Effect of bearings?

How do you guys feel about bearings? I know when I'm longboarding they make a huge difference, but it seems that on grass with a kite board that the friction in the grass would be a limiting factor way before the bearings ever were.
Has anyone done bearing swaps and felt big results i.e. more upwind capability etc??:o

I think any bearing that rolls smoothly and quietly is plenty good. Expensive bearings are good at things we can't exploit with a kite in most cases.

fresh is best and if you keep them dry they last . ...once wet its over.

SS will last a bit longer but regular are fine.

for me roughly a full set every 3/4 months, i use VBX.com 15 bucks a set.

bearings are disposable in my eyes, don't waste the $ on pricey sets

Bearings are lot less important on ATB, most important I have found is making sure all connections are tight, wheels vibrate themselves apart pretty quick. Had poor results with GI vegas lasting, much better results with GI Crossair and MBS TwiStar.
