HQ Montana V 12.5 meter - SOLD
A nice Montana V 12.5 meter for sale but it does have a flying issue. The leading edge want's to tuck and flip the kite while flying, then it falls
out of the sky. Most noticebly when going up wind. I've tried just about every adjustment I can think of and nothing has corrected the issue. I did
snag the bridle a couple of times last winter and suspect this is the culprit. I haven't enough expertise in kites to trouble shoot this. Somebody
that knows more about bridles may find they can fix this issue and have a kite they can enjoy for many years to come. Myself, it will just sit in the
closet forever and not get used. I hate to sell something with a defect but don't know what else to do other than chop it up for making jackets.
Feel free to make some kind of offer, I hate for this kite to go to waste.

Kind of curious why you wouldn't just send it off to FixMyKite, PowerZone, or Windfire Designs for a tune-up or just get a new bridle from HQ?

I've never heard of anyone sending in an open celled foil for such an issue so I was out of ideas. Physical damage repairs, yes, but not flying
issues. I only hear of Flysurfers getting tune ups so I figured Flysurfer is the only brand that does this, not HQ or Ozone, etc. It's just one of
those things that I'm not aware of because I simply have never heard of this or experienced this before. I plead ignorance I guess I've since heard through the grapevine that this would most likely NOT be bridle
stretch and simply a tweaking issue needed through trial and error. If I knew how to tune myself I would attempt it in a heart beat. Playing with
AOA isn't something I'm knowledgeable about, I'm afraid I would make things worse
I posted a thread last year regarding this kite, but I don't believe sending it in for a tune up was ever mentioned. I was very hesitant to put this
on the for sale board. Hindsight says I should have investigated the issue much further. I played with adjustments on and off for half a winter and
still couldn't figure it out. I could never chop up a kite, that would be against my morals I would give it away before that would happen. So you see, this is a prime example of me making things more complicated than they have to
be simply because I don't know any better. Live and learn the hard way I guess.:D

I would send it to John at Powerzone. He made a custom bridle for me for a very reasonable price and it is phenomenal.
Depower Quiver: 14m Gin Eskimo, 10m Gin Eskimo III, 6m Gin Yeti, 4.5m Gin Yeti (custom bridle and mixer)
Fixed Bridle Quiver: MAC Bego 400, JOJO ET Instinct 2.5 & 5.5, Lil Devil 1.5, Sting 1.2
Rides: Ground Industries

I've sent out a few emails on what it'd take to tune this guy up (Chris @ HQ, Powerzone, & Fixmykite), but since it's the weekend, I'm still
waiting on replies... I'm hoping this works out for me.

I have a Montana 3 that exhibited very similar behavior. I added a pigtail about 3mm the a line bridal cluster and the main 'A' bridal mixer ( I think
these terms are correct). This lifted the leading edge of the kite up just enough to stop the collapses.

HA!
Soi guess the length of the actual pigtail is about 1 cm but with the knots etc. it only extends the length of the bridal by a few mm. I had initially
made it longer but it killed the flying characteristics of the kite.
