The 2007 Cabrinha Omega HD is a freeride kite whose primary focus is versatility. I've only used it two times, both on water from sandy beaches, and it was reliable with no big surprises, but still was able to generate some eyebrow-lifting power.

This is Kite Only, so you'll need to supply your own bar + lines, but the kite, bridle and bag are all in surprisingly good shape. The bag looks almost brand new and all the zippers work. I bought this guy before a trip to the lake to see if water riding was for me, and it was really great.

The bladder holds air for 8 hours at least, and there are no tears, repairs or pinholes that I could see (looked through it at the sunlight.) This is a good beginner - intermediate kite for someone who doesn't want to blow a bunch of money but needs some nylon in the 12m size.

I was with Proletariat (Dave) when he was using the kite on the H2O and can give a second input that the kite is in stellar shape! Also can attest that the bladders were all rock after hours. Dave is also a rock - can trust a purchase from him.

Do you recall if this kite is set up with the bridle currently configured in the 1:1 setting or the 2:1 setting for use with a pulley bar?

Haven't been on this size but a 16m on a pulley bar was my first experience with big big frickin kites while landboarding...good fun!

Thanks for the link, Nick. It's currently set up on 2:1, but it appears you can switch it. It was pretty predictable and responsive with the 2:1, but bar pressure wasn't ridiculous.

I'll take this if it's not already sold and as long as it is Ok for a beginner.

Infinte- this is your very first post here, and we know nothing about you or your skill level, and in your post you say you are a beginner...... NOBODY should sell you a 12m kite as your first kite, ever. We don't care about how brave you are or how good your health insurance is, it's just TOO DANGEROUS.

For a very first kite you should look at a 3-4m kite to learn on. If you absolutely want to learn on a LEI kite, or other "real" kiteboarding kite, don't go bigger than 5-6m.

And let me say, my first kite was a 12m, it kicked my ass and got put away for two years until I learned enough to fly it without getting hurt. I was very young and didn't have much $ to try and get into the sport, and got it at a swap meet. It was a very sour lesson to learn, to have saved up and finally got a kite only to find out it was absolutely not right for my skill level.

My 5th kite (first depower) was a 13m and I didn't get my ass kicked, but I am really really REALLY cautious when putting a kite in the air for the first time. I think the first day out was 1mph gusting 5mph, and I could barely fly it. Day 2? I hooked up the lines wrong in 5-8 mph winds, snapped a bridle and could've been in serious trouble had there been more wind. Self-taught is NOT the way to go with a 12m kite.

That being said, this isn't a C kite, it's not a race kite, it has dependable turning and speed and there is nothing surprising with the power build, so yeah, I think it'd be a fine first LEI (with lessons). Typically, for depower foils, people (here, and on kitecrowd) say to start with a 7.5-10m, but for LEIs, I think 12m is better. It turns slower, you're not messing around with dangerous / scary wind speeds (if you're smart), and it doesn't move crazy fast across the window. The tiny kites will put you in a death spiral way too fast... I prefer my beginner kites big, slow and lumbering .

Infinite, I also have another dude asking me about this kite; I'm having two simultaneous conversations. Just so you know, it's first come first served (meaning whoever commits to a purchase and sends me money first gets the kite.)

Thanks for the concern erratic winds, I have my own trainer kite and have taken a few lessons. According to most reviews about this particular kite it is a great one to learn on, granted I suppose the size could be a bit smaller. I will certainly be sure to very cautious and have an experienced kiteboarder around to assist.

Considering the Omega sold. Spoke with Infinite and he has s good, safe bar. Verifying compatibility and I'll probably make him some leaders for the Cabrinha proprietary connections (great feature that keeps you from hooking it up wrong, btw, but annoying if you want to use your own bar)
