Wanted: Progression Landboarding DVD

Hoping someone here has a copy of the landboarding DVD they're done with and would be willing to sell to me. I figure since it's not currently very feasible to get lessons or even fly with someone more experienced this would be the next best way to make sure I'm not missing anything vital, especially as I'm beginning to look at depowerable kites and liftier kites.

I saw that one too and it also looks good, but being located in the US it seemed like it'd be cheaper to get the Progression DVD which I've also heard good things about.
Wish these things were just sold as digital downloads so I didn't need to pay shipping or buy a DVD drive :/

I could be wrong but I can't imagine what a DVD could teach that you can't learn from pkf, YouTube, and experience.

That's what I'd originally hoped, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing some things like general kite skills.
It'd be great if we had some kind of wiki for people starting out which helped organize all the information out there.

YouTube is your friend, as well as Google! I personally wouldn't bother wasting money on the DVD but that's up to you. Everyone here is helpful and would be happy to answer your questions, that's what the forum is for! I learned flying static without any dvd's I watched some YouTube videos, asked questions here, and looked at some guides. Advice I have for you now is that you should be able to fly static without looking at the kite; being able to feel the kite is what's important. Landboarding isn't really that hard to learn when you mastered static flying. Start low and build higher, eventually you will be able to landboard!

Cheers, Ari

There are 3 DVD dedicated to Kite Landboarding.

  • Power-Kiting How-To

You can find the chapter breakdown for the DVD >>here<<.

This is very much a Whitman Sampler of power kiting and covers static, landboarding, buggies, and even kite bikes. It was an ambitious effort, but the amount of topics covered means that the focus isn't as as deep on any one subject.

This DVD is available through the PowerKite Shop if you are the the UK/Europe. In North America, the DVD was available through Fitz Grant of Canadian Windrider. They generally sold it through their eBay store. Would have to confirm if they are still doing that.

  • Progression Landboarding

You can find the chapter breakdown for the DVD >>here<<.

Unique in the way the lessons are taught as they go over how to perform a move, outline what some of the common mistake are and the show you how those can be addressed.

This is available through Amazon (Prime), several eBay sellers and if you feel like supporting small brick and mortar shops, Side Off Video in California. Shipping is free to the US and Canada.

  • Drill 1

You can find the chapter breakdown for the DVD >>here<<.

This is available from MBS's (Alex Brown was a team rider when the DVD was produced) website and through most authorized MBS dealers.

Probably the most basic of the bunch. A lot of 45 minute runtime is spent on the first 5 chapters that cover:
    1. wind and conditions
    2. padding and safety
    3. different types of kites
    4. flying kites (2 lines and 4)
    5. boards

and then working with the kite and board are covered in chapter 6.

There was supposed to be a follow-up DVD called Drill 2, but part way through filming, their van was broken into and the camera, filmed footage, and other equipment was stolen.... the second project kind of died a quiet death after that.

The first two aren't Region coded, so they should play anywhere.

PKHT is in PAL format so it can only be played on the computer or PAL format DVD player.

Progression and Drill 1 are NTSC format.

Not sure if Drill 1 is region coded.

Yes, there is a lot of information on the web, and some fine videos (thank you CTB ;)), but there is something to be said for a consolidated package.

ATB,
Sam
