I just got my kite off e-bay. It was missing the lines, safety leash. So basically I got the kite and the bar. The kite has two "ribs" that are
ripped down the center from top to bottom. I have purchased kitefix repair kit, 500 lb line for the control bar to kite and 220 for the brake line.
I have an idea on how it all goes together. I was wondering if someone could post pics to show how the lines are connected to the bar and the safety
leash to the brake line. I guess I'll be making my own stops for the brake line. Do they sell just those? Happy Kiting and I hope to hear back soon
with positive feedback. Just for the record, my main goal was to get my GoPro camera up in the air for some aerial shots. I started with an HQ 1.3,
That was not nearly big enough so I went big. The sale was not a total bust. I got a partial refund and while waiting for the repair parts to come
in, I watched a lot of youtube videos. Laughing... Youtube does not make one an expert! Actual experience does. See you on the beach!
I'll try to help...factory specs are the safest way to go but you can save this kite if you're determined! Sounds like you need to get the paddles
greased up and yell "clear" and see if the heart starts pumping again!
Located in Jacksonville, NC. I haven't seen any kiters at the beach aside from the various "beach markers" as I call them. Single line kites to mark
where your stuff is while you're in the water.
This is my first power kite and have nothing to reference. I have searched the internet and have not found what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the quick replies. So far this has been a great site. I have frequented others for different subjects and not gotten as quick of response
as here.
So far I have only spent $160 or so for the kite, line(s), ripstop repair kit. I don't think I need the paddles just yet. My wife needed them when
the kite got here and I stretched it across the living room floor and told her how much I originally paid for the kite, then told here there was no
line and then told her it was broken. Hehehehe
A few days ago, I asked HQ what they thought of "kitefix". They replied it was great stuff. Just now, I got a reply from them stating it can't be
fixed with that, it would require a sewing machine. I scrolled back. They retracted the comment as to what they thought of the product. I agree a
sewing machine would be best but come on.
this is a horrible story so far....imo whoever sold you that kite failed on all accounts and kinda needs to be outed
blow cells need real repairs not tape....and this kite is not worth $$ sending out...hate to say it...but if you cant pull off the sewing yourself you
should move on...you a Marine or you just like the water?
Retired Navy Corpsman and yes, I do like the water. I'm going to do the sewing myself But after I've played around with the kitefix. Does anyone
know if regular material shops carry this material? If so, they will probably best advise me as to the right thread and needle for the sewing
machine.
its when the kite hits the ground leading edge first and no way for the air to escape the cells will blow up....we all try to avoid it but its part of
the learning process...i have a blown up rush and its 2line bar w/ lines i can send you..this is all youll need to get life back in that kite if your
up for it...just email me an address and no buying kites on ebay anymore w/out running it by us first.....sir.

LOL Aye Aye.
I was able to figure out how to send you an email. for some reason clicking on email from here, I would get an error... Go figure.

This is the line setup for the HQ Rush Pro.
Line stoppers are available from West Maine or similar local sailing supply store.
Usually sold in multi-packs and they come in different sizes depending on the thickness of the line they will be going on.

I am totally amazed. In one day... I got everything I asked for and more. Thanks abkayak and indigo_wolf!!!! Remembering one of my favorite movies
"pay it forward". I have spent what seems like an eternity taking care of others for no reason. I just got paid. Very Humbled.
Now to pass it on some more.
FixMyKite.com does a pretty good job at repairs at a great price. I'm a Navy vet as well. Should you decide to go a different route, let me know
and I'll help you get going where you want to be.
eBay is okay...IF you know the right questions to ask...and what to look for. The guarantee covers you from most losses. As a new person It is better
to buy perhaps from a dealer or a great site and members here.
The whole thing would have been better if you just had gotten approval to return by either a repentant and cooperative seller, or through eBay and
PayPal for an UNREPENTENT and uncooperative seller.
Glad you got a partial refund....But look at the work and effort you now have to go though.
Now you know where to come for help, purchases, socializing and entertainment! The Ripstop Pilots of PKF!
Well, my kitefix kit came in. That little tube of glue doesn't go very far. It made it the length of one rib on one side. I thought I'd be able to
do both sides of the two ribs that are torn. That #@%$#! doesn't want to cooperate. As you're smoothing it out the material spreads apart. What a
mess. It does seem to hold up nice once it's cured. Set time 20 minutes, full cure is 6 hours. Still not bad for a quick repair.
The other rib is Gorilla Glue duct-taped for for now. Probably wont hold for long. It's got to get my GoPro in the air at least once.
Big Mike; What material are these things made of? Can I get it at a regular material shop? Do you sell the material (white). It looks fairly easy
to sew. Pull out the stitching and use the old piece as a template and sew it all back together. What type/size thread, # size needle. It has a
dashed stitch. If that's what's there, no reason to change the stitch pattern. Huh?
Hope to hear from y'all soon It's 3 am and I need to get to bed. Life comes at you real fast even after retirement. Just no more meetings, unreps,
inspections, etc... Dang that 3MC!
Yes, film to follow. My Gopro battery was dead and I'm to impatient for anything so the repairs went undocumented. I bet y'all would have liked to
see me with the roll of duct-tape. Agree, I doubt it will hold even for gorilla glue brand. Putting kite material and thread on my shopping list.
I'm going to take it to the local soccer fields for my maiden flight. There's usually a few spots not being used. The beach is still too crowded for
my comfort/flying skills. Don't want to put anyone in the ER. And if that holds...some aerial shots!
I used your lines as a template for mine. Measured them and tied off loops precisely. I have extra line, will probably make extensions out of that
if I decide I want extra height.. Now I just need some wind!!!

For what it is worth, your accusation of a retraction is false. You may have misread my comment. I specifically said kitefix will not fix a broken
rib. Only a sewing machine will do that.

Chris
Yep; totally misread it, My apologies! Even retraction is false, I somehow skipped it when I went back to look at it. Again, more apologies.
At the moment I'm getting comfortable with the wife's sewing machine. Once comfortable, Ill switch to the ripstop type and play til I get
comfortable with that. Nah, I doubt it. Kite repair shop out of Gainesville FL is more likely to get the kite for repairs.
Here's my short video of the kite flying for the first time. I needed more wind. 5-7 mph gusts could barely get it in the air. Video is terrible.
Kind of hard to hold the iPhone and the control bar.
Gorilla tape may do just fine , it holds key components of my van together (198525 miles , countdown begins soon). Recently kept an upper radiator
hose from leaking for almost a week! Carry it with me at all times , right up there with head gear and harnesses.
