Harwater kiting has graciously donated a lesson package to the Wildwood buggy bash raffle for the American cancer society. Chris (Feyd) asked us which
package we wanted, and we really didn't know. Below is the list of 4 packages we have to choose from along with some comments. More info on the
packages they offer can be found at
www.hardwaterkiter.com
We need your help, please vote on which one you would prefer.
Here are some notes from Chris that pertain to all the packages:
Our standard packages are based on IKO lesson criteria and certification but with some added elements in regards ice safety etc. We require all
participants to be intermediate skiers or boarders.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1: The goal of this clinic is to get you ready to begin moving on your skis or a board. You will learn to fly 2 or 4 line kites as we'll teach
you about general kite safety, flying and site assessment. We'll cover set up, safety systems, how to launch, fly and land the kite. This is a raw
beginner lesson and a good raffle option for someone who wants to gift a lesson to someone else. Price on Level 1 certification is $180 for a private
one on one and runs for 3hrs. Sometimes people do well enough in the Level 1 to ride. Usually if they already have some minimal level of kite flying
experience that allows us to breeze through basic handling. All flying equipment and ice gear is provided. This is one of our most popular lesson
options.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 2: The goal of this clinic is to get you up and riding for the first time. We'll work on improving your kiting skills, introduce more power and
teach you how to use a harness and a depower kite. We'll discuss the various elements that come into play when flying and riding with a snowkite.
This is available to anyone that either has a Level 1 IKO or PASA certification (snow or water) or has flying experience and does a skills assessment
with us to confirm they are ready for Level 2 instruction.
3hrs instruction, one on one, cost $180.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 3: The goal of this clinic is more advanced kiting ability . We teach you acceleration, stopping, switching direction and riding upwind
consistently. You will learn more about kite selection and fly more powerful kites. If time and conditions allow we will also cover basic jump
theory. The goal of this lesson is to give you the basic skill of an independent snowkiter.
Time is 2hrs, cost for one on one is $175.

Snowkite Freeform Coaching: This option is available to Level 1 (or greater) equivalent snowkiters or kite boarders. In these sessions if needed we
can assess your snowkiter level based on IKO snowkiter standards, certify you at that level and determine how to progress from there. This is a great
option for those who want to "fill in some gaps" in their snow kite skillset or just focus on specific snow kite skills either to round out their
skillset or to qualify for a higher IKO certification. This is a popular option for kiters from other disciplines that want to transition to snow and
be comfortable and competent or as an option for a guided discovery learning environment for experienced snowkiters who want to ride in areas they are
unfamiliar with.
Time 3hrs. Cost per person $120. Includes the use of our school or demo kites. It's always an adventure to see riders used to smooth onshore winds
fly in the tight nooks and crannies some of our areas have here. Builds skills like crazy tho.
