Hi guys!

I'm new here in this community and first i want to say hello
I'm Jan, 21years and live in Zurich/Switzerland. I've got a HQ Beamer V 3.0 since a while and think about for a bigger kite.

The Beamer 3.0 is good for strong wind, but mostly you have to search this wind here where i live xD

So a bigger kite for the "low-wind-times" wouldn't be bad and i want to start jumping. I tried with de Beamer, too, but with this low wind here it just looks like "moon-jumps", so not really that what you understand in kite-jumping^^ And if there would be enough wind the landing wouldn't be safe with such a small kite (as i read here...)

But honestly, i don't know wich kite i should get. First i thought about the HQ Toxic 6.5, but when i search for vids for 6.5 kite jumps i always find vids with de Blade 4/5 6.5m2 and can't find any vids with the toxic. Is there any reason? What do you think wich kite is better for kiting only on the ground without this skateboards etc? Because i just want go out of my house with the kitingbag and fly it, without any vehicles - it's nearly impossible in my location anyway.

Should i go with a toxic or the blade? Or do you have other recommondations? The toxic is the only one i'd found a seller in switzerland, so if it doesn't matter i would buy the toxic.

Some information about me:

Im 1.83m tall
65kg
In my region the wind is between 1-4 bft if it isn't stormy
And i think i have really good skills with my little beamer 3.0
I only fly the kite on land without any vehicles etc.


Hope you can help me to find a good one or can say me whats better on this kite and whats better on the other kite

Welcome, you should be able to jump with either. The blade will probably have more pop. Your on the right track, you want a big kite so you can jump in less wind and have more canopy for float.

i think i go for the blade, seems more safe to jump... can you tell me something about the lines? there are 200/100kg and 250/200kg lines. what are the advantages/disadvantages of these?

I'm not a jumping expert by any means but I've flown both kites. The blade will accelerate faster which result in higher jumps but can easily catch you off guard in gusts. The toxic will be a touch more friendly. I'm not sure I would consider the blade safer. Wear a helmet and avoid jumping in gusty wind. Not sure on lines but I would go with what flexifoil recommends.

Jumping is the quickest way to see the INSIDE of your FEMUR...

i just read the blade won't let you fall down so fast as the toxic, because the blade has more vertical lift when you're coming down. also i can't find anyone who jumps with the toxic (search for it...) but i can find 100 of vids and recommondations for jumping with the blade.

Thats why i thought the blade is the better joice. and do you know something about the differences from the lines?

I'm not going to sound like your Mom but......I've been flying for a while now and I cringe whenever I see one of these posts about jumping.....I have a nice quiver of blades and they scare the hell out of me with the lift sometimes produced when you aren't ready for it...

I started out like you on a 3.5 rage. I flew that thing like a stunt kite for almost a year before I even got into a buggy or harnessed myself to it...now with that said....I learned enough about piloting the kite that I never had to ask anyone "how do you jump" or which kite to use".....experience from logging in those hours made all that possible...

I think that if you have to ask questions about how to jump and what size kite to use you are not ready to take that on without getting hurt....back to sounding like a MOM....wear a helmet and be careful the wind is clean if you are still going to try it out....that is your best chance to learn without hurting yourself or as Weldngod said....jumping is the quickest way to see the inside of your femur.......

A Blade may be a bit more than you can handle. The difference between a Blade and a Beamer is like the difference between a pedal car and a Ferrari. You may well get hurt,if you are not careful and lucky. A gust of wind 10mph over what you can handle ,could be dangerous.

I agree on what have been said by Weldngod and the others.

Maybe a different question that may lead into different recommendation - are you also looking into Snowkiting? I'm asking since I'm living close by (Langnau am Albis) and coming from a MTB/Snowkite background I do really love the Snowkiting here in Switzerland. If this is maybe something you are considering, then you may want to look into beginner/intermediate depower kites that gives you enough pull for the first winter sessions and some lift for first jumps when you further advance in your kiting skills

If you want to jump you need patience.... to become nearly an expert kiter first. Then there will still be risk.

Have you ever seen any jumping videos on Youtube? I'd watch the 'Accident' titled kite jumping ones so you get a healthy respect for caution and what can go wrong if you pick gusty wind days or make other bad or ignorant choices.

If you jump in other than smooth steady winds your risk goes WAY up.

If you live in Switzerland you really should be thinking about snow kiting. Once you get moving you will understand why we save jumping for while we are riding. It is a bit safer an SO much more fun.

If snowkiting and jumping are in your future you may want to consider a depower kite? ( I would )

The Peter Lynn Twister is also a high lift kite comparable to the Blade but a bit less expensive. If you are set on a large fixed bridle.

As others have mentioned going from a 3m low lift kite to a 6.5m high lift kite is a real different game. I am with those who caution you.
