Cooking with The Sun

Forecast to be a clear and sunny day for Thanksgiving. Will work perfect for me and my cooking plans... But who else cooks with the power of the sun? Last couple of years a solar oven was useless... but this year looks to shine on Turkey Day.

Then again, I cook on the beach when I'm not bugging.

Hey Steve

I use my solar oven all the time. Just not on the beach. In my back yard.

A slow cooked roast stays sooo juicy and tender when cooked this way.... Most anything that will fit into our limited collection of black cookware (graniteware) or cast iron always does well. Highest temp we ever hit was 425 on a really clear, cool day with low humidity. But summer days 325 or a little higher are normal. As I'm sure you know... it just takes a little longer than a regular oven, but you can use it anywhere :)

Looks like a pair of sun ovens being used for Thanksgiving. One to bake a ham, the other to heat anything that can fit into it. Gotta love kiters and their love for eating good where conventional power is hard to come by.
