depower set up question
I've used the peak about 8 times now and I somehow had my steering and center lines crossed on the first time I flew it. It was one of those things
that you know if the original owner had set it up he would not have had a problem most likely. Since then I haven't had any problems with pack up and
set up until yesterday. I somehow had one of my steering lines crossed with a center line. How the heck does that happen? I thought I had set up
and pack up licked but I must have more to learn.

There area a number of ways to get that situation. Can be caused by during an invert while trying to resolve it or simply by an error unpacking or
packing the kite.
One way and the worst way is when someone packs the kite and then shoves the bar into the bag and push the bar through a bridle. Then when they
unpack they pull it through the bridle again on the way out.
Can make a mess if you aren't aware of how it happens.

As Feyd has said, usually this happens when you lay out the kite and/or control bar and one of them gets inverted. Usually it is the control bar that
gets "rolled" inside of itself which would wrap the center lines around the steering lines. Easiest way to fix this is to just pass the control bar
back through the center lines (in the correct direction) and it will come out straight.
This also happens on a collapse or crash where the kite will roll backwards through itself, causing the lines to be wrapped. Again, this can be fixed
by landing the kite, disconnecting from your harness and passing the bar back through the lines.
Hope this helps.

I've never had a problem with the Access or Apex depower kites. But the Frenzy with the 5th line safety somehow did the same thing to me more often
than not. Annoyed the $%^& out of me. Never a problem with the NS2's 'cos I disconnect the bar each time.

It's mind boggling because I have been doing it the same way without any issues until this time and I can't figure out where I made a mistake on
packing and unpacking. I will chalk this one up to a rare occurrence and I'll see how the next set ups go. Maybe I goofed something up when I packed
it last but I keep the bridles rolled up in the kite and put a strap on the kite and keep the bar separate and next to the kite in the bag.
And yes, I disconnect each time with the nasa stars. I thought that might be annoying, but I haven't down to an easy routine and it's really no big
deal. As a bonus it forces you to examine your bridles each set up as well.

Wait, are you disconnecting the lines when you pack up?

No, I'm leaving them attached. I pretty much do it exactly how you show in your video. It has worked perfectly 6 out of 7 times so I must have made a
mistake the last time.
One thing I couldn't tell in the video is what you do with the depower line and chicken loop. I have been sliding the bar out, then wrapping the
chicken loop around the center of the bar, then winding the lines around the ends in a figure 8. Is that the best way?

Hmmm this is curious, it has happened to me on a few occasions with my Peak too. In fact when I got the kite brand new it came apparently "ready to
fly", ie with the lines already connected. First time I unpacked the kite I found that one of the steering lines was twisted around the power line.
I couldn't see how to untangle it so just disconnected the steering line at the kite end, pulled it free and then connected back up.
Since then I've had this happen at least another 2 or 3 times. Once was when I was landing by backstalling with the balls on the steering lines in
gusty conditions, and the kite inverted. So I know what happened there.
But it's also happened another couple of times to just ONE side or the other, which I do find odd.
I always leave my lines connected, and am pretty OK at being careful when packing and unpacking. I never let the bar near the bridles and I unwind
the lines with the kite still secured in its bag.
Most odd, is a mystery to me also!!

Sometimes it can be caused simply by accidently dragging the bar as you lay the lines out and having an outside line flip around the bar. :D
