Nebraska Winds - Feast or Famine

Gotta love the irratic winds in Nebraska :) , I was planning on flying Saturday but it looks like I'll have to fly Monday on the holiday. Not that I haven't flown in winds like that before but I needed a change of shorts afterward and a new pair of shoes.

I'll have to go of around 8 to get any flying in or go at dusk because the afternoon looks brutal.

A Beamer V 2M and a 2 line .5 M which would not handle those winds. I have a 5.5M Twister but that kite and those winds would = injury at the very least.

I've flown my Beamer V 2M in 35+ MPH winds before but it was crazy flying static. No wheels as of yet but I'm working on that with "the boss" and Big Mike :). After one of those static sessions in muddy loose grass grounds I needed new shorts and shoes. My sole delaminated on one shoe and the other ripped from my toes going threw the front. Got a lot of 50 foot scuds in though but the wife nixed those kind of sessions because we are not going to buy new shoes everythime.

Ended up not getting to fly yesterday because of errands and a sick child but today was wonderful. After finishing a round of disc golf with some friends I got in a 2 hour long session with the Twister III 5.5M by myself and I couldn't stop smiling :). I really had to work the kite because the winds literally did 180 and back by the time session was over but the sun was shinning and I got a lot of quality time in becoming reacquainted with the kite. I haven't flown it since the fall because of the wicked winds and snow. I almost got a full 360 run around the field in with the kite because of the changing winds but it fell out right at the end of the circle. Still a good workout after 2 hours and my wife and daughter surprised me by showing up at the park right as I packed up the kite and I got to finish out the session by watching my daughter play on the playground. All in all it was a good day! :)
