Addicted but no idea!

Sorry again to bother you guys but just looking for advice. Been practicing on my sting 3.3. Have a blade 4.9 which i am working towards using (see spinning kite blog). Now i have acquired a flexifoil 7.2 and a rage 3.5. I have also got a few control bars. I am thinking about putting the blade and 7.2 on the control bar and leaving the 3.3 sting and 3.5 rage on the handles. I expect to spend the next 3 weeks learning on the 3.3 and 3.5 before trying the 4.9 blade. What scares me is taking the 7.2 out!Can anyone give advice on wind speeds for each kite, what i should and shouldnt do! or just get ready for broken limbs! any advice is welcomed!

No bother i like your style, i think your intent on living up to your name and i'm willing to help you I’m an enabler or is that disabler i forget... regardless....imo, fly the rage a whole bunch when u know it does what you want all the time in 15-20 and it has tried to kill you several times but failed and you got up laughing it's time for the 4.9 to have a go at you(10mph)...it would be a shame to not let the 4.9 have a good crack at you and you just gave the job to the 7.2..personally i cut my control bars in half and turned them into handles on my blades....i dont think they work proper on the bar but thats me...really sory i cant watch this:D

Abkayak will steer you right... ..but don't take advice from either Ruptured Spleen or Frequent Ambulance Rider- both are not the most reliable knot on the bridal-if you know what I mean.

What model is 7.2 meter Flexi?

Flexifoil Blade Gen I was available in 7.2M (in addition to 2.6m, 3.3m and 4.9m).

Go fly the 3.5 rage...on the handles...static...like a stunt kite....When you can do all sorts of loops, turns (both up and down) and jump a little you will be ready for the others and not need too much advise...You probably won't live up to your name but you'll be a better pilot for it...Flew mine static for almost a year....

Here's a little advise...When you are debating/second guessing a kite size to the wind speed.....Launch the kite and if you curse and/or are scared to death before it even gets to the Zenith, then land the kite immediately...its not the right size for the conditions....go smaller....

1.8 Flexifoil Rage
2.5 Flexifoil Rage (new version)
3.5 Flexifoil Rage
4.7 Flexifoil Rage
2.0 Flexifoil Blade II
4.0 Flexifoil Blade II
6.6 Flexifoil Blade III
8.5 Flexifoil Blade III
5.0 Flexifoil Blurr
7.0 Flexifoil Bullet

Just show your 4.9 Blade and the 7.2? the respect they deserve and you will be O.K..

The 7.2 will be your low wind kite. Take it out when the wind is hardly blowing and put it away as soon as you feel overpowered. Size your kite for the gusts, not the average wind speed.

Expect your Rage to have considerably more pull than your Sting. Don't be too afraid of your 4.9m Blade ( unless you have very gusty wind). It will actually be a real enjoyable kite to fly. It just doesn't make for a great jumping kite unless you are very experienced at redirecting and keeping power in the kite while jumping.

I agree. Use the bar to hang from a tree and play with. I spent a bit of money, lot of time and a lot of agro' trying to make fixed bridle kites fly on a bar. I like a bar and turned to depower kites. After all the work I only fly my fixed bridle on handles now. You get the most out of a fixed bridle that way.

Try not to keep the kite at zenith when you are parking it. You can get lofted by gusts that way. Keep the kite off to one side. Then if a gust hits you will get sent downwind instead of up into the sky.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

Blade 7.2. Nice!

At this early stage in your progression I'd recommend buying a wind meter. A basic anemometer will help you better judge the situation. I use a basic one to gauge high wind. They and cost around £30.

Watch for changing weather conditions while you're out flying. Dark clouds rolling in will often ramp up wind speeds, so keep an eye on those.
