Wind Shadow
Hey Guys, sorry for the LONG absence, but the wind shadow is actually 7 times the height of the object. It takes 7 times the height away to get the
wind back to completely clear. Not to say you cant fly much closer, but to get back to beachlike wind, you need that much space.

Ahh, that explains it, I was told 3 times, but it just doesn't work that way to get clean winds, I can see 7 times being more believable.

I've been told that a good way to esitmate if you are clear of the obstruction's effect is to hold your thumb up at eye level like you are making the
OK or cool sign (like Fonzey from Happy Days). If your thumb completely blocks the obstruction you are far enough away that you should be in the
clear. If not, you are in the wind shadow.

Windy's...
Seems like wind speed would affect shadow length.
Those air molecules would cover a longer distance at a higher velocity.
So wind shadow would be determined by height of the obstruction and wind speed - A factor of those.
Any other contributing factors?
Are wind shadows related to lift-fairies and drag-demons?

As far as I have heard, there is no difference in shadow by windspeed. Not to say that it doesnt make sense, but I have never seen any information on
windspeed. Although, I have seen crappy beachwind with NO obstruction because of high gusty winds.
