Backup set of Twistar wheels?

I want to have a backup set of wheels so I can swap tires out when they pop in my annoying field of thorns. I get to go so rarely that it's really a bummer when I pop a tire and end my session before I'm content.

Anyone got a full set or even a few laying around they want to part with? Pricing them out new, by the time you've purchased wheels, tires, bearings, and tubes, its a better deal to buy a whole second board and keep the bindings and trucks for spares. It really shouldn't be this way.

Alternately, If someone has an upgrade from my MBS Comp 90 they're looking to dump, I might be interested!

Thanks!

bit of a tangent but have you tried running Slime in you wheels? I have had great success with it against my local flora.

I run both slime and mr Tuffy tube liners.. If I didn't run those, I wouldn't last a minute out there. (Learned this from experience. The first time I went out, I literally only lasted 1 minute).. It's kind of a bummer because it adds a lot of weight, but it's better than the alternative.

Thanks for the advice though!

Stan's No-Tube is a nice compromise inre weight and sealant.

Just a thought. How about wrapping the outer circumference of the inner tube with a 6" strip of KEVLAR held in place by electrical tape. Someone can correct me but I would think these KEVLAR strips are strong enough to prevent a puncture.
Its $60 for a roll of 6in x 10 yrds .
Assuming a 15 in tire, that's about 4 yrds of material for all 3 tires.

I'm not promoting this site. It was the first one to appear when I googled Kevlar strips so don't REPORT this post :lol:

volock: I dont think that would work for atb tires? Ive never used it before but it looks the the rim strips are made only for mountain bikes.

dangerdan: Interesting idea. I know the tuffy liners work great, but they only protect the outside circumference. Any sidewall punctures go right on through.. Anyone have any experience with using kevlar strips?

Special K, not the rim strips the liquid sealant they sell. I run it in mine and it works well, in our dry environment it dries up in about 4 months or so. It's much more effective for me over slime for my mountain bike tires, though as always your mileage may vary, and if you run low pressure a lot it might not work out. One of my wheel sets for my mountainboard is setup ghetoo tubeless fashion as some mountain bikers do, so that I can run sans tubes all together and with sealant, the other I just put it in the tubes like you do with slime. The nice part of Stan's is that it's not messy like slime, and when it dries out, you remove the ball of latex from the tire and do it again.

Spendy and heavy but pretty much bullet proof.... google "200 x 50 airless tire"

The ride will be harsher and not recommended if you live to boost.

Good video - I never thought about the KEVELAR weave. If the weave is coarse then there could be penetration by a small needle like object.
