2m depower trainer, kite only, $120

This a 2m depower foil, kite only, $165 $140 $120 shipped to the USA.

Bought it on the forum two years ago here:

Had a good time playing with it in moderate to strong winds. Doesn't need a harness, really; I just made a little depower loop of some bridle line, used an old 2-line bar for the steering lines, and caribinered the depower loop to my belt. Not much power until the wind really gets cranking, of course, but it was a good intro to how depower kites really behave, and it kept me from going crazy while I waited for the weather to warm up for my kiteboarding lessons. :-)

learning on a small depower is a right thing to do:
- you don't ever learn bad habit of "hanging on the bar" to have to unlearn it later
- you learn controls right - the depower, relaunch, quick release, maybe a bit of trimmer use
- if you already got yourself your first large inflatable wing you can use its bar/lines and abuse the trainer rather than an expensive piece of gear

How is the depower on it? Debating this for small/lightweight friends for introducing them... I mean I have a 5m depower foil, but sometimes the size still scares them

It depowers fully and quickly because it's so small, of course. The throw is pretty short, maybe 8-12 inches, so it took me a while to get it dialed in and flying without undersheeting. So you'd need to get it adjusted and flying smoothly before giving it to a beginner. But when you get it going, it's great because you get just enough power to feel it and know what kites are capable of, and you can stop that power very quickly. :-)

I didn't have a suitable depower bar to fly it on, so I was using a broom handle for the steering lines and hooking the power lines directly to my belt. With a proper bar (or someone who knew more about what they were doing) it would be easier to set the throw so the flier would have a comfortable range. I have since bought a crossover bar but haven't tried this kite out on it. I imagine that sort of bar would work well for it.

Not 100% sure what you mean by "mixer," Moto. It's kite-only, so there's no bar with trim adjuster. There are knots on the bridle, on the steering line connection points, so you can set trim that way.

I don't have many foils -- I'm into mostly framed stunters for land and LEIs for the water -- so maybe I'm misunderstanding a foil kite term.

mixer is the pulley system on depower at the kite. The pulleys that change angle of attack on bridle. I think

Ah, ok. Here's a picture of the pulley system.

(Click for larger image.)

The white line at the top of the image goes to the top and wingtip of the kite, the red line attached to the pulley goes to the center body of the kite, and the green line at the bottom goes to the trailing edge.

This is a Elliot Magma, which afaik isn't a depower foil, so this one must've been converted to depower by someone. The Plasma is Elliot's DP foil.

That's right, this was modified. You can see more on the forum post that I bought it from:
