Updated JIBE info for May 2015
The migration of Coastal Wind Sports and JIBE info to the new web host is nearly complete but is now at least basically functional.
www.coastalwindsports.com
The home page is lame and uninspired but I threw it together quickly as a functional placeholder while I put together something more aesthetically
pleasing and engaging. It has much of the old links you are used to except for retail products.
you can go directly to the JIBE page here...
www.coastalwindsports.com/JIBE.html
Things I still have to do...
Update the "JIBE Guide" downloadable PDF for 2015 and update some maps with places of business that are gone or have changed names. [DONE]
Update maps to reflect new construction on the island (it's looking real good!) [DONE, mostly]
Add info about the group "Wind Sports for Wounded Warriors" that will be co-located on the beach with us this year. Check them out at...
www.ws4ww.org [DONE]
Local kiteboarding instructor Robb VanWie will be assisting with this noble project. More to come.
I will try to get much of this punch list done by later today if I can keep playing hookey from work today.
Thanks everybody for your continued patience and interest.

JIBE rally point.
Just wondering....
Could you move the rally point up behind the pavilion?
It's closer to the bathrooms.
Also it would give us more air time saving time to drag gear down the beach and a quicker exit off the beach.
If a storm comes up. We could wait it out under cover and keep our gear dry.
Just wondering....

In a word (or two), probably not. We have become victims of Jekyll Island's success and the beach in front of the Great Dunes Pavillion has become
popular with beach-goers and picnic-makers. The refuge of kite beach, up by the old restaurant access stairs still remains relatively sparse in terms
of pedestrians and offers us the room we need. The Pavilion and rest rooms are 800' south from there. The old restaurant site (formally Finn's on
the Beach and Blackbeards) is now under commercial development and will have public bathrooms, but likely not in time for JIBE this year.
You can split the difference and set up shop on the south end of kite beach, nearer the pavilion, but you will likely still have to schlepp north a
few yards from there to launch. Your call.

OK. Hate to be the one that asks, but where exactly is ground zero? A little confused now. So we are setting up where we did last year?

I'm pretty sure the reference to Ground Zero is where Chris from HQ sets up the big gray tent... Where all the action starts.
I'm going to take a nap now

great dunes park , northern most parking area by restaurant
the weather station obelisk is in the corner of parking area, an indication you have arrived.
the look from the dune walk over
usual suspects, Chris from HQ dropped at this spot.
in front of great dunes park there are just too many beach goers for setup
