streetkite

There's been some interest lately on streetkiting and bar set ups so thought this might be helpful.

Here is a picture of the light pole landing. When carefully done it works great for landing. I'm not sure if 3shot's kite ocd will allow him to use this method. :)

Also, here some pictures of the streetkite bar in case someone wants to modify an existing bar. I used a standard kite killer but you have to add a length of paracord

It is ingenious, I stole the idea from a thread where beamerbob and bladerunner were talking about people putting in some sort of poles in the desert and landing their kites that way. It's even better when they are supplied for you in the form of light poles. It works just as well launching too, although you have to make sure you know what your doing so you don't end up catching a bridle on the head of the light pole. I usually have the kite in the upright position and it makes getting to the tranport loops very easy for line attachment.

BR, with short lines, the most fun thing to do on the longboard is see if you can brush the light poles with the kite as you go by. Once I got good at that, I have intentionally wrapped the middle of the pole and as I keep rolling, It will pop back off and keep going. I'll have to get video of it. It's a blast.

Seems like you could easily modify any fixed bridle bar to work like Steffen's streetkite bar... just thinking out loud.

You can. I've made a wooden bar that works well. I just bought Steffens bar because it's relatively cheap and I didn't have any bar. It's only 43 euro I believe.

I was using my wooden bar in this video.

Good vid Sean. I think their huge low end power is overlooked in the traction world. Are you able to run them right off the bar?

Negative. I've tried it a few times and always end up hating myself. 5 meter lines is as short as I'm going unless I'm on a beach boardwalk or something. You can still loop and spank it with 5 meter lines

this is using the board to steer kite,

power is fixed, board provides tension and speed control.

its same as c-kite trim for unhooked, comes for learning to "fly to idle " without brakes or no depower. only window position to power and forward pitch (in either point of sail). with handles , like this case , the " bar center "is the 2 handle grips wide just like center grip for unhooked with bar. the trick is solid shoulder position and hip/waist board control for speed control. for me, alot like strapless surf at scale speed on longboard and all translate very well same balance and muscle reflexes.

It's basically like adding kites to your quiver. I would have been on my 7 meter if I was in the buggy on the grass. I was on my 4 meter in the video

Wish I could, the family's schedule won't allow them to go and It's tough to take a solo vacation. Also, my work is seasonal and I'm commission based. the beginning and end of summer are my busiest times, which unfortunately coincide with kiting functions. I'll definitely make it eventually.
