Holy Cats!!! I just flew a kite!!!

So 3 months and 10 days after being lofted by my 5.5m and breaking my left heel followed by surgery and recovery, I went out today and flew a power kite for the first time!!!!

:wee:

It was blowing in the low to mid teens and I put up my 2.6m Viper S. I forgot how much fun that little booger is. When it pulled hard I just lifted my left foot and hopped forward a little (bad scudding surface and grippy shoes)... as I flew I found myself VERY timid at first but becoming reacquainted with the pull, I sat down in the low passes through the power zone and whipped a bunch of downturn figure 8's and had a blast!

I know I'm going to have to spend a good deal of time getting comfortable again, and I can't help the fear yet either... it'll take a minute, but I'll be back to 100% soon. Still a fair amount of pain, discomfort and weakness to overcome as well.

I'm going to take a nap now

Good news!

Your a better and smarter kiter now. Your 100% in your head because you are aware of your body and limiting your re-learning curve back into the power.

Sure would have liked to seen that one footed scud!:o

Glad your better!:)

Whoa, crazy.. same heel as me! I didn't know this happened, is the story on here somewhere? Guess I wasn't as active on the forum when it happened.

Glad to hear you got out to fly some. It took me about that long also to get back on a power kite, although I did fly a Rev while in my cast. ;)

Yes Smeagol, and it was your RII that broke me! (The one I gave you my 6.8m Viper S for)

If you scroll to near the end of this thread is where it happened:
