OBX For landboarding?

Any suggestions on where I could use a landboard at the OBX? I am going in about a week and am looking for a place to landboard. I normally go to windsurf, but I was going to bring my kites also. Someone told me that the beach near Bodie Island Lighthouse would work, but sand was too soft when i got there. (Not sure what the tides were though.) So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have not seen any rideable sand in OBX. It is too loose and pebbly .

Near where i am staying is the day use area at Salvo - big grass field, but don't know if an ATB would work there w.o a ton of wind. (but sometimes you do get it at OBX). May have to stick to the water.

I have never seen enough hard pack sand for landboarding. The grass at SDU is full of cactus balls too. I have seen guys street kiting in there but wiping out or crashing a kite into the grass is not a pleasant thought. :o

I will be heading to Hatteras late next week until the end of the month. I might pack the electric mountainboard if there's room. :D

Hate those cactus balls/sand spurs - thanks for the warning. Once i was there and the place was infested with mosquetos as well. Looks like i'll be getting a lot of use from my wetsuit.

after rainging there are sometimes harder spots at jockeys ridge. and I think I have seen people do it at wright memorial. but there are lots of spurs at the memorial, wear gloves.
