Libre Full Race, what size is right for me? Help ~~~

Ok, I am getting a Libre Full Race but can't decide what size is right for me without trying it. I am 5' 6" and weighs 155 lb and thought small size would be right for me but after talking to Jon Ellis (he is riding x-small and he is much bigger guy than me), I think x-small might be a good choice.

Anyone who is riding Libre Full Race out there, from you guys experience, what size do you think is right for me? Again, I am 5' 6" and 155 lb. Keep in mind that I wear a seat harness. Thank you guys.

I'm with aj... X-small. I have a small, and I'm 5'6" 135lbs. A narrower frame helps hold you in better.

I am getting toward X-small now. X-Small definately makes sense during dry lake ride but most of time I will be riding on the beach and maybe wearing a jacket. Would I be able to comfortably fit into X-Small during fall ~ spring time with some more clothes on + seat harness? I am spending over $1000 here and just want to make sure I get the right one. Thank you guys for any input.

The smallest is just as fast as the largest, so I go for the comfort. A larger, longer buggy will give you a smoother ride than a short one. If your young, a short wheel base is fine. At my age, it can't be long enough. I am 57 years young, 6'1", 200 lbs. I like a smooth ride!:wink2:

man, this is tough! So far, I've got 7 votes and x-small is winning only by one.

X-Small makes sense because it can hold me better but again, what good is it if it is TOO small?

Jon is going to order my Full Race today or tomorrow so, I will have to make a decision soon. I only wish if I could try one or another.

Thank you guys for all your support. I love this forum!!!!! - Brian

I can tell ya this, When I do finally get a new full race for myself, I will without doubt go with the x-small. It is a nice fit for me even with wearing a seat harness, along with a thick coat during the cold times. It may say x-small, but it sure doesn't feel or look like something "x-small".

And you may want to consider too that when it comes to buggies, Jon knows what he's talking about.

Jim, you are a tie-breaker! Including your vote, it is 4:5 and x-small is the winner. Well~ in case I can't fit into x-small, at least I know who to blame :D

Thank you guys all. You guys are great!!!

Hi Brian,

I know I'm not making it easier for you to make the decision, But is there a considerable difference between the size small and xsmall? I also went through the same thing when I purchased mine 7 years ago. Everyone I talked to, said to get the xsmall, because I'm a small guy.
Guess what...I got the small instead, because I think the difference is only minor, and I can't be happier with my decision.

It's sure tough to make the choice when you don't have anything to try,
but I think the following photos will give you a better idea.

Remember we are about identical is height and weight.

Here's my Libre Fullrace V4A Stainless steel size small:

and me riding it:

Just trying to help...
Cheers!

elkiter, you sure are not making it any easier - just kidding. seriously, I really appreciate your input.

The difference between x-small and small must not be that much as those who have x-small said they fit into buggy well even with winter clothes and harness and most of all, they all are bigger than I am.

Looks like I can't go wrong with either size but I decided to go with x-small because (1) from others' experience, I would fit into x-small with no problem, (2) I am upgrading to Full Race from Vmax because Vmax seat is too large.

Hope I made the right decision. Thanks for all your help. - Brian

Hey Brian,

These are custom "alu" wheels that I got it from Skyline Wings in Vancouver, BC
(Same place I bought my buggy from).
Used to be operated by David and Luke Stanek,
before Jon Ellis took over the North American Distribution.

They cost a fortune, and only good for aesthetics, but sure attract attention.

Maybe you can ask Jon if he can still get them.
I'm also curious if these are still available.

I believe they were custom made in Cananda, and there were several designs to choose from.

elkiter could I ask why your seat is set so high in the buggy? Sorry but the rims are no longer being made.
In regards to the extra small and the small libres; both buggies have the same seat size (small) but the extra small buggy has side rails that are a little closer and way taller on the sides to help keep you comfortable and secure in the buggy a bit better. I am 6'3" and weigh 235 lbs and use an extra small Hardcore. The only difference between the larger sizes is the width between the rails and seat sizes; the lenght and width of the buggies overall are the same. Stem lenghts are the same as well as the axles and the forks, even the lenght of the rail are the same front to rear. I hope this helps.

I need enough bottom clearance. Unlike the beach or drylake, Shoreline field is rough and unforgiving. Rocks and broken bottles everywhere.

I'm already looking into that, after seeing one of my buddies belly pan a few days back.
I'm thinking using 7mil lexan material and have it lasercut from work.
I just need to digitize a pattern.
