Ultra light wind day 21M Nemesis

Just wanted to share a short video of me and an ultra light wind day I had a few weeks ago. My friends wanted to see this kite in person and I figured it would be a good light wind day...... Did not know how flipping light it would be. I'm flying a Best 21m Nemesis (aka. Flying a small apartment). Winds were coming out of the east at 4 to 6mph if that. The forecast called for 10 to 15mph but our forecasts are iffy at best around here. It was really rough day of "flying", I was using mostly apparent wind to keep it flying. Mostly just flying around with a dog chasing the kite and a small unexpected lift towards the end.

Really nice video - I assume you shot that with a drone, right?

Yeah, It was shot with a DJI Phantom 2 vision. A friend of mine was the pilot.

That's a beast of a kite. I wish I had a cameraman. Those aerial shots make the world of difference to kite videos.
Are they power cables close by ?

Yeah it still amazes me every time I fly it. In about 10 to 12mph this thing can pull like a freight train! Yeah there are some lines off to the side there. I try to only fly in this park when the winds are coming out of the north and have me pointed away from the lines. This day the winds were out of the east north east so they were not really a hazard. They are a bit farther from me than they look in the video. One downside to flying in San Antonio is that all the parks here have High T lines going right through the middle of them so depending on the wind directions I have to choose what park to fly in here. SA is horrible about power lines being everywhere. I have found only one place to fly that has no lines but I am trying to get a hold of the land owner to get permission to fly and ride there.

This kite even for it's size is really quick when the winds kick up. I have not had a chance to ride anything or get out on the water with it yet....... Honestly this kite kinda scares the bejeebus out of me. I looped this thing once and was in for one heck of a ride and have not really done it since I got teabagged down the field. I swear this thing hangs on my wall and whispers to me "I own you....hahahahaha".
I bring this kite out when I just want to show off and get the oohs and ahhhs. LOL! Most the time when I am riding my atb or out on the water I use either my 16m Waroo or my 14m Vegas, if it really calls for a super light wind machine, Ill use a 19m Fuel.

i just looked at your sig , o7 torch 12m best of the lot. its age is its only handicap. booming unit!

08 north vegas 12m and 2010 9m waroo, this is a great combo lotta range and would be worth maintainig if your not gonna get fresh stuff.

cool stuff ...with those units you definitely need 3M 5200! for the $ of one stick on valve, you can fix about 30valves!

i have some old kite vids from the era. i learned a ton with them!

I love the Torch. Believe it or not I got it as NOS from a shop in Florida complete with pump bag and bars, never flown. I have had about 8 rides on it since I got it. The 06' I picked up for 20 bucks and only had 1 valve that needed to be fixed, the sail was still crispy and bright. Also NOS was my 19m Fuel which, I have to say is the best looking one color and pattern wise of the bunch. The 9m Waroo I love to death and is almost new. I bought it from a guy down in Corpus that was giving up the sport and I quote "I'm getting to old for this S@#$" LOL. The rest of the kites I acquired in fairly good to awesome condition sail wise (still crispy but had bladder problems) a lot of them had delaminated valves and I had to reglue them all. I didn't even know to use 3M 5200, I have just been using aquaseal which I went through quick. Definitely going to be getting some 5200 now.

aquaseal /5200 both polyurethanes both work fine. aquaseal would be general purpose light duty. 5200 is more specific below water line "i do not want my boat to sink" grade.

old school bladder/valves can be a hassle, bladder oxidation hinders bonds no matter what you use. be careful "vintage" on the water, not good combination everything becomes brittle even if "new" . vintage stuff makes for cool projects and alot can be learned with them for sure , but a couple slams and it'll crack fairly easily.

5200 fast set usually small tube about 12$
