Another video mowing the lawn

Just another vid of me cruisin the grass. I could really use a front fender for my bug. Grass clippings fill up my seat after a couple hrs of riding resulting in grass stains on my A**. Winds were 10-25 mph. Felt overpowered in the gusts with the peak 12m. A little light in the seat a couple times:o

Awesome video cheddar, I used my peak 6 in the same winds today and thought I had a good time. I feel embarrassed now. Great kites, I decided to keep mine. I can't even imagine what a 12 meter would have felt like. I need to build a tank like yours instead of using my 28 lb pl buggy.

For comparison's sake. Here's a video from today. Not as good of pilot. Peak 6m. winds 11 with gusts of 20ish. I screwed up a perfectly good downturn. Not trying to one up you cheddar :) because your video's way better but since we are on the topic of PeaS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s and mowing the grass, I figured why not.

great vids both of you guys.

@Rob... looked like you are really rockin' the bug. I recommend picking up a trailer fender to modify to fit your front fork. I made one to fit my Comp XR front end out of a trailer fender I bought from Northern Tool and Equipment... Like so:

I had to cut a chunk out of the middle and weld it back together to make it thin enough, but it turned out pretty well. After I switched to midis it wouldn't fit so I ended up making a splash guard like thing which I sewed out of canvas then spray painted black. That also works well to keep the grass clippings out.

@Sean... nothing to be embarrassed about... looked great and great recovery!... it looked to me like your bar ended up reversed with the red on your right... really nice job picking it right back up and getting back in the groove.

@Sean & Rob... I'm super jealous of both your spots!!!

 nice video, Cheddarhead. If you could mow the lawn that fast, your chores would be done in a hurry! Love your spot, is that a roller coaster at the end? I was also taken by the sticker on the window of your truck, is that a custom job,or commercially available?

I honestly don't remember, but they come in a variety of sizes. Worst case scenario, you'll end up looking at a plumbing supply catalog rather than the HD website.

Wind range is my best guess according to what I felt and the report from "Windfinder" I really should pick up a meter one of these days just for curiosity sake:rolleyes: My buggy really is heavy. My best guess for weight would be 90-100 lbs. Add me to that and you have about 320lbs to pull thru slow grass. Over powered seems to be the only way to get any speed. I tipped it over once and been on two wheels a couple times:cool: No official OBE's yet:thumbup: Never flew a kite that depowers as well as the Peak. Let the bar out and it dumps most of the power on demand. Impressive!

Thanks for the fender ideas guys! Didn't think I would need one since I don't have any sandy beaches to ride. Since riding on grass it's kinda proven my non-fender theory wrong:rolleyes:

Thanks Bobalooie,

That is indeed a small wooden roller coaster on the end of the field. My buggy field is actually city property and butts up against a small amusement park. Mainly for small kids but a couple years ago they added a little roller coaster to expand their ride selection. The day I shot this video I had the city police stop by and watch what I was doing. I was expecting them to approach me and ask questions but apparently they didn't care because after 10 minutes they simply drove away.

Sticker on my truck window was actually a present from my wife. She said she simply bought it on ebay. So if your interested in getting one for yourself then I guess ebay would be the place. Who would have thought:smilegrin:

Nice video ssayre! Looks like you have some nice land to ride on as well. I can relate to the bumpy ride. Sometimes it's a challenge just to keep the front wheel straight when going fast. I've had plenty of blunders already, I just haven't put them in my videos:frog: Of course the wife always want's to see the "bad" parts. I just tell her I'm going to save all those crash clips and make them into a "fails" compilation. sure would be nice to experience a hard pack beach or dry lake bed one of these days. I'll have to convince the wife it's worth the drive someday;)

That's why I qualified it with "on Ivanpah". The easy rolling and quick apparent wind effect, will tend to overpower a kite in winds that would be ok if you never get going fast like when mushing through grass. That's why I have 6 kites between 2.5m and 3.8.

Since I started riding buggy in this particular field it's been non stop "lurkers". Could be comparible to a UFO sighting:lol: It is next to a popular place in the city so I guess it's just human nature to be curious. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't exactly thrive on attention so it's a little hard to get used to.
