Expending energy in calories to produce energy in volts to power a microwave oven to cook a ready meal to replace the calories lost producing the
volts. Where do I sign up?
I got the dual line kite winder in his Kickstarter project. It has been useful in learning to kite sail. I'm making progress little by little.
As for his new project - I don't really see why the winder is needed, but I guess he wants to package it with the new thing to sell more of them. It
only generate something like 15 watts - barely enough for a small CFL bulb.
There is a lot of brainpower being applied (wasted?) to generating electricity with kites. I figure this is good because maybe they will advance kite
technology. Here's a video of another crazy way of doing it. There are some universities and even big companies working on it as well. Hey - a bunch
of guys trying to send rockets to the moon, ended up creating some great kites. Who knows?
Yeah - mounting a turbine on a tower is the way its normally done. There are huge wind farms, mainly out west. The turbines have wingspans longer
than a 747. Wyoming is getting covered with them. In my former life I did a lot of work related to wind generation.
But, the idea (whether it ever works or not) is that wind is stronger, and more consistent at higher altitudes. I think they have a very long way to
go to make anything useful out of it, but that doesn't stop them from trying.
As for your bagels - you are probably looking a hundreds of dollars to get a wind turbine that produces enough power to toast them. It would take
about 30 of the kite loop generator dudes setups working in tandem to power a toaster.
