What has happened to this place? It's Independence Day!

Everyone too afraid to say it? I am thankful for my freedom and those who fought for this great nation... what little is left of it. Today I flew the Stars and Stripes with pride and cooked up some goods on the barbecue. Hope you enjoyed this day like I did.

Todd,

I'm tracking right with you buddy! Today is one of the greatest days of the year. I flew my flag all day loud and proud, went to a traditional parade, watched a flyover by two fighter jets (that was awesome), had a barbecue, and tonight we are going to watch fireworks from our back deck.

Damn proud to be an American!

Steve

Happy Independence Day brother and to all the rest of you as well. Celebrated with the family and ate way too much food. Had a great day and I am thankful for sure!

Todd, it sounds like you had it happening for the 4th! Sounds like a good time.

Yesterday, the Win-Dixie markets were donating all net profits to the wounded Warrior Project, so we went shopping!

New this year, effective July 1, regular fireworks are legal in Georgia, so the neighborhood was quite a sight!

Or Dutch. Haha...living in America makes me understand Americans better, yet I still feel bounded to the Dutch Holidays. I have many holidays nowadays and although the dates are different, they are so simular.

I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to create my family here. So my 4th of July is the 12th of March. The day I got married. Haha.

Coming from the Netherlands and being the first generation after WW2 I am thankful for the allies liberating my country. And I see the history in this country is short compared to Europe, but packed with people fighting for liberation and freedoms for all kinds of people.

America is or can be a great country to live in for everyone who is open-minded and sees opportunities not afraid to work hard to achieve goals. I love it here and do appreciate what the holidays mean to Americans.
We are not that different.

Wish everyone a good BBQ, and fireworks.

Well said Devoted!

It's always so great to hear the immigrant point of view! It helps to put things even more into perspective.
