Urgent - scrub lion canyon board

Hi Guys,

A quick one - I have an option to buy, new a scrub lion canyon board. £60.

Is this a good deal? I'm new to landboarding so this is my first board.

I'm just shy of 200lb about 5f 10"

Is this a good board for me? I'm tight on time as will have to decide today.

Quick replies are much appreciated..

Scrub Lion Canyon £98.00 when new

Scrub Lion Pro £85.99 when new

Both boards are now discontinued.... hence the deal, if the store is looking to clear stock they will often sell at cost.

All maple deck (no fiberglass layers or stringers to add springiness).

Skate trucks (hollow skate trucks on the Lion Pro.... should be fine for cruising but might bail on you if you hammer on them.

Deck is 98 cm long.... at 5' 10", you might feel a bit cramped or experience wheel bite.

If New In Box, you should still be able to get your money's worth out of it.

If the board is local, it would be best if you could actually stand on it to see how it feels/fits you and if your'll likely to experince any rubbing of heels/toes on wheels when leaning one way or the other (wheeel bite).

ATB,
Sam

If you're planning to do much jumping, the trucks and deck are a bit on the weak end of things for your weight (having broken a similar setup myself at about 20lbs more than you, while jumping on a MTB course maybe 2-3 feet in the air).

Thanks guys,

I got scared off due to some reviews and similar suggestions of it being to small..

I'm leaning towards a flexi foil g2a at the moment, do you have any other suggestions? I don't really wanna sink alot of cash on my first board just in case I change my mind n go buggy.

My friend has a cheap flexi board that I've had a go on. I seem to be ok but can't really tell yet.

I don't know the board market there for a better suggestion. Around me cheap used MBS boards can often be found on CL.

In the UK, KiteCrowd.com and SurfingDirt.com might be viable options for used gear. Both have a lot of UK members.

Mario was selling a Scrub Karakorum for £100. There was in interested party, but he is located in California and I am not sure the seller wanted to deal with the shipping logistics.

Board is here:
http://www.surfingdirt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4869

Seller is in East Sussex.

Hi Sam,

There's two available. One is definitely a flex deck. The other is unknown at the moment. I've messaged the seller to find out. Looks like a boomerang.

RH1 Is about 2 hrs drive from me. Why do you ask?

RideTheHill (http://www.ridethehill.com) is located there.

The have riding lessons or just straight board rentals, in case you wanted to try out a board with channel trucks to see how differently it rides.

No kites, just downhill including very gradual hills, so more for check out other flavors of boards.

Sam

Thanks for the heads up :)

If I was going to buy a new board, that doesn't cost silly money, would you have a suggestion?

yeah, I've gone for a g2a flexifoil flexdeck. £45 with pads and tool kit.

Looks hardly used, no rust, tread and bearings are all fine.

Think I got myself a good deal.
