PL Venom 2 19m

So My new PL 19m Venom 2 came in today. I got it for 102 bucks..... Was charged 108 in shipping! I opened it up and now I have a small beach in my living room! Sand poured out from everywhere and little bits of seaweed too. It was wrapped up with the spars still attached and I found chunks of tar on it as well! Some of the previous sail repairs are coming undone and it has 5 blown out cells! The spars are seized up and I don't know how to get them to come apart and collapse without trying to force them apart, but I don't want to damage them at the same time. It seemed the previous owner must have buried this kite in a sand dune at high tide before shipping it to me! The tips where the leader lines attach seem to have been glued by something at some point and the webbing is starting to come undone......SMH.... Is this kite a loss or is it still worth sending off to have professionally fixed ( basically restored at this point)....UGH!!!:bisou: I don't get how you can treat your gear like that. I always take my kites back home and take them out and rinse, clean and inspect them before they dry and I pack them back up, especially if I was out at the beach!

Bummer!... it may take some patience, but I say restore him!!! I hear nothing but good about the Venom line... I can't speak to the blown cells, but I know you can buy replacement spars.

I'm going to take a nap now

Here are some pics of my Venom 2 today. I finally had time to get it out and air it up to see what all was wrong with it. I pulled 6 full cups of sand out of it and some shells!:o It seems to have one professional repair along the trailing edge and a patched part up top that is coming off that I will get fixed. I did not see any blown cells but I honestly don't know how to tell on this kite. The only thing I am going to need is a new set of compact sticks, mine are seized together. I saw online they were like 90 bucks....is that for a set of them or for a single stick?!:o I think it's worthy of a flight as it sits, so I think I might get it out tomorrow if I can, the winds are "supposed" to be 10 to 15mph, I hope that's good enough for a test flight. It's a little faded and beat up (came form a kite school in Malibu) but I think it'll work. I think I got the kite equivalent of a teenagers first car....... LOL! But for 102 bucks... not bad I think.

What kind of wax should I use? They work right now but they are a bit rough.

I got out today and gave it it's first flight and now I am completely sold on PL kites! Winds were about 8 to 10 and it was amazing and stable! One blown out cell I am having fixed and 2 glued patches to have professionally done and she will be one hell of a kite!
