with no wind again this weekend and work and chores done, there was only one thing to do. Make another buggy modification. With hotwire in place and axle bolted, there was only one missing component just in case I find myself in higher wind and I accidentally send it, pull the bar in and redirect.

I had the items on hand which made it all the more fun. Very simple and quick. I'm going to add another cable tie to each side for good measure. I had exactly 2 on hand. Rubber friction tape for traction on pegs

Sean - Another fine project! Are those elastic cords or some non-stretching material? That is a sweet ride; pimped for utility! :cool2:

Next simple project: Bar ends and heel straps. I've since replace these slippery black nylon 2" straps with some of those thick tan 2-1/2" wide straps that truckers use to strap down lumber, etc. to flatbeds. I found some of those along side of the road near my house!

Very nice Steve. I really like the use of the bike handles and how you attached the webbing. I used bungee cord that's stretched pretty tight. I'm going to try it out and may switch to heel straps if I don't like it. My thought was I would rather have something stretchy in case I found my foot twisted somehow.

you've more chance of getting your feet stuck with a bungee as you can get twisted but youll still be attached . youre better off with something like this

Carl - not nitpicking the design (Lord knows mine has flaws), but I'm confused by the angles with your toe straps. From the pics (and this could just be a camera angle thing that is confusing me) they appear to be on the TOP of the foot pegs more or less. When I ride my feet are almost vertical, so from where I'm seeing things your strap placement seems off by almost 90 degrees. I'd think you'd want your straps facing back towards the rider. I can see how the outside bolt placement allows the outside of the strap to swing back, but I'd think the vertical bolt of the inner securing point would set up the strap to twist on its long axis creating a crease. I'd think that would get uncomfortable on the top of your foot after a while, particularly if you are wearing softer footwear like a running shoe.

Am I missing something here? I do like how you've incorporated what appear to be mountain board toe pieces.

Windstruck, when Carl catches air, the heels traps like you and I have won't do anything to keep his feet in place. They are meant to ride on the top of his feet like Sean's at the top of the page.

if you took the pegs off then they are directly on top . but as the front forks are at an angle they are towards you.
I don't know about you but I ride with my arch on the peg which automatically puts the bindings across the top of your foot

yea. it was the bungy straps I was commenting on. the underslung ones are more of a racebuggier thing

Thanks guys! I wasn't thinking about the need for staying attached to the buggy on purpose when getting airborne. That's the 54 year-old in me; please keep my buggy on the ground (and me in it)! Makes sense what you are saying about the angles; thanks for the clarification.

I too ride with the ball of my foot on the peg, at least as I now have my heel strap adjusted. I'm going to experiment with wearing some more sturdy footwear now that we are sliding into Fall (yes, the leaves are starting to turn where I live). I plan to shorten up my heel straps a few inches and ride my foot a little higher on the pegs. The reason for this is yesterday I spilled out of my buggy from a standstill landing my 12m P2 to switch to a smaller kite (too much wind). I'd used a cross-strap to back it out of the sky and the bugger pulled around behind me on the ground and I got sort of spilled out of my buggy. One toe got twisted up in my heel strap. Nothing happened but it spooked me. I thought having the straps shorter would help make that not happen again at the price of riding with my feet a little higher on the pegs.
