stores and manufacturer reps at NABX?

anyone know what stores and/or manufacturer reps are planning on being at NABX this year? I don't plan on buying any new stuff but I'd the chance to 'try before you buy' if there are some demo kites and/or buggies there so I can plan my next toy investments... :-)

I know that PKD's gonna be there, There will be Buster II's and Brooza's to demo, some Century's being cleared out and hopefully I'll be able to get some of the new Combats in time for the event. It'll be mainly demos though, I'm not planning on packing a bunch of stuff for sale, I'd rather spend the week having fun and ripping up the Playa

Why yes Kite Buggy Speed Shop will be there with JoJo's and Libre's to demo. I will be giving a buggy tuning clinic along with Luk Stanek giving us his "How to buggy 72.8 mph" clinic. Check us out at the great white tent with the Demo tour banner. After NABX Charlotte and I will be traveling around the country this summer looking for places to buggy and demo. Let us know at NABX if we can stop at your location and buggy.

Last word I received is that Brian & Heather from Ozone will be there along with the Revolution crew. Not sure about the Ground Industries team yet but they were out in full force last year so I am assuming they will be back. We will be there in full force and we always carry a lot of demo's for people to play with. We do attend the event to buggy and play but if there is something you are looking for let me or my crew know and we can get you taken care of. We firmly believe in the "Try before you buy" statement so come on by if you are looking to try something new out and we can get you hooked up.

We, Ripsession Kites will be there, U-Turn Butans will be on hand for demoing. Assuming everything comes in time, some U-Turn Nitro EvoIIs will be on hand as well. "since I was dumb enough to sell off my Nitros before the event" LOL.

If you're looking to buy, you'll have to seek out one of the dealers at the event to get a price. Kite Dealers, please come visit us. Probably will not carrying stock, since we are flying down.

All we really want to do is have a good week, buggying around the playa, and meeting new people. Thank you.

Folks, it has come to our attention that there is a misunderstanding of what goes on at NABX. We are sorry if there is any confusion. We are a gathering of like minded individuals, who get together each year to catch up on the latest gear, happenings, and just get down with the wind.

Yet, we are a non commercial event. Yes, we do take sponsorship, and yes, we do sell you an extra t-shirt or hat, but that's it. Without sponsorship, and your registration fee, NABX particularly now, in this 21st century, could not exist. I know it sucks to know, but registration alone no longer covers the event costs. We've been very lucky, have stayed in the black, and kept the event going each year in spite of the increasing work load. We are happy to do so, but, we are non-commercial.

If anyone were to vend, it opens a whole new area of permitting with the BLM. They will not allow vending without the proper permits. They have already contacted me about this thread, asking me what's going on.

I've reassured them that, while we be having manufacturer demo's there will be NO sales made on the lake bed.

Please help us keep the event what it has been, and what it can grow into. We do need everyone's co-operation for this to work. We can not do it without your support.

Thank you very much.

the NABX committee.

Did I mention anything about selling?
I answered a thread about who was coming and demo kites to try out.
The last thing I want to do is srcew up the program.

This Question is for the NABX committee................................
We were under the impression that in order for distributor or a shop to demo new products at the NABX event we needed to pay a $200 dollar fee. So far Wind Powered Sports and Kite Buggy Speed Shop are the only ones supporting NABX as requested.

Howdy,
It was MY understanding that my $200 sponsorship was to help pay the expenses of our gathering.
I was never told it included any commercial aspect.
I never expected any.

Stores (and web sites) are the places for business.
The playa is the place for play.

I appreciate the difference.

BTW... Jon: My business is WindPower Sports
No past tense.

I didnt see anyone say anything about selling. I think they misunderstood the meaning for Demo ... Demo in our terms means Test Flying. Giving the attendees of the event different kites to try out.

I didnt know that we had to pay to demo stuff at NABX, I have sent 2 emails to NABX in regards to sponsorship, and no one has gotten back to me. Our company doesnt care if we need to pay $200 to demo kites or just extra money to support the added fees that goes into this event. we're happy to support this event so it happens year after year.

...still waiting for a reply email from NABX

Yes I was told that in order for shops or distributors to demo product at NABX, they must be a sponsor at NABX. Period. It has been that way since at least 2000. Now maybe I can get either a refund because I was mislead or a clarification from the NABX committee.

I'm also wondering what the deal is, I was under the impression that the playa would be a no-sales zone, People have gone through great lenghts to set up stuff in advance so that no one's making a sale there.

Do I need to chip in the $200 to let people demo my gear. If so let me know and the cheque will be in the mail. It's just the first I've heard of this.

"What we have here... Is a failure to communicate."

Jon might have it right.
The difference between selling gear and demo-ing gear needs to be clear.

Allowing sales during our event makes life (and legalities) much more complicated and has been discouraged as a part of our playa-life.

We have to consider not only what we say, but how it is heard.

More about buggies and less about business.

Thanks Corey. Thanks to all the sponsors. Jon you are welcome.

Everyone, I will say it as clear as I know how, if you don't understand after this, please, contact me: deanjordan(at)gmail.com and I'll try to clear up any misunderstandings.

There can be no sales on the lake bed except by NABX.

We will continue to demo as in the past.

Again, please, if you don't understand, contact me! 831-345-5957

Thanks again to all the sponsors that make NABX possible!

Corey "WindPower Sports" I hope I got it right this time. "Often wrong......in chess game of life." I have one more question; Will you sing Boogie Boogie Thing by James Cotton around the camp fire? Just to let everyone know that when Corey sings that song it comes out as Buggy Boogie Thing. Classic..............
Dean thanks for the clarification on demonstrating product at NABX, and your welcome for indirectly increasing at least 4 or 5 more sponsors to the event.
Immediately after the shot car contest will we then run the rag flappers race? Now that would be funny Kroc.......
