PKD BUSTER SOULFLY PRO 3.3m

I picked up a new PRO version of the PKD 3.3m Buster Soulfly while I was at WWBB. I got it from Jeff @ BIG KID KITES. Like all of my PKDs, it's a very nice kite.
Very well built kite with handles, line set, one kite killer, plastic stake all packed in a very different (but very nice) type of bag. This kite really is ready to fly right out of the bag. And I mean RTF! You lay the kite out ,sand it ,pick up the handles and walk away. Let the line set spiral off the end of the handles and when you get to the end ,no tangles. Launch! That simple... I have never seen a kite so well put together and ready for the newbie kiter. This and the smaller 2.2m PRO(which is next on my want list) would make great entry level kites or awesome storm kites for the experienced buggier.
They are made from the lighter nylon instead of polyester like the Std. versions. Which makes them a little quicker through the window. They also have the sweet multi color , race type bridles with a big honkin' knot on the end to secure your lines to. Did you say "DIRTOUTS", look at these dirtouts. The handles are the mid size PKD handles with the built in strop and brake clamcleats to adjust brake tension. Hook into the strop and steer by brakes mostly. These kites love to fly by brake input.
Visually, they are beautiful in flight, you can see a red "soulfly" through the white nylon on the underside. The one I have is Black and red, not sure if those colors are size specific or not, but it looks great in the sky.

How does the new material effect the price point?

I suggested the Buster to a few people due to the cost. That and the fact it was a well made, well behaved trainer.

As I remember the prices of the std. Busters , it is just a little bit more, but it is worth the money for sure. I don't want to say what I paid for it. As ,I may have gotten the "ex-team rider" discount.:D

I love the 1.5m and 2.2m, maybe I should pickup the 3m for the Beamer replacement I need, to fill in the gap from 2.2m and 4.5m FB

As you own both, any particular plus/minus of the Pro over the standard? Any reason (aside from price, and waterproof fabric) you'd push one way or the other on?

On the plus side for the pro: Lighter weight matl.,better bridle lines, higher speed through window, flyable in lighter wind than heavier polyester, better overall RTF kit for entry level kiter, and last and least.... better bag!:P

On the minus side : Lighter matl. is easier to damage/ blow out cell on crash. Not waterproof , so not as good for storm kite.

So ,with that being said ... If it's for a kid , or ya plan on being out in the shiznit, get the Std.Buster. If it is for an adult or any kiter who would appreciate a skosh more juice,go with the PRO. But either way "Let your SOULFLY!"

It is one of my favorite high wind kites. I wanted to take yours for a spin but couldn't catch up with you zooming around on the beach. The blue/black color is an eye catcher also.

I like the minimal backpack. I wish all kites either had a minimal pack or stuff sack or option for no pack at all.

Due to space issues and a downsize of stuff, all of the Buster Soulfly Pro's (3.3m and the 4.4m) will come with the Buster Bar at no extra cost.
I will ship WELDINGOD a bar because he is a 10 in my book and see how it works for him.
The Buster Bar is made for the Buster kites which allows them to be flown on a bar or handles. This is one kite designed for the bar and handles.

It's Here

My Soulfly Pro 3.3 came in today. As soon as I got home from work I opened the package and headed to the local park. I had a blast. There is deffeninately a learning curve that I will be working through over time as I make the transition from a two line stunt kite to a quad line power kite. That being said, it controlled well, and I was able to back it down for a gentle landing with the brakes, and relauch. I even managed a couple of successful, if not graceful reverse launches (not quite intuitive for me yet). The 3.3 has a ton of pull even for a relatively big guy (5' 11" & 225#) in pretty good shape (at least for an old guy) in relatively light wind. Thank you BigKid!
