Well deserved awesome session

Today the wind gods where on my side. After days of following windfinder, the gods kept word.
3pm low tide. Packed up, crossed the street, and airtime for my kite.
First time I took the Synergy out in 16 knots plus wind. Rode it up to Jetty Park Beach. A little upwind.

Some pics of Jetty

https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer?fgl=true&pli=1#pho...

I am the only Flyboarder. Just kitesurfers. Riding Core kites and Flysurfer kites.
So there i am with my Synergy. Having a blast. Riding the beach, getting my jumps dialed in. The kite behaved so well.
Since I am the only one riding the beach, I get a lot of attention. Flattering but a little too much i felt.
I really worked on getting paired up with this kite coming from the Speed3. I think I'm getting there.
Emergency breaks, toeside, jumps. Good day.

On my way home the oldest was coming towards me on his bike. Wanted to race me. Hahaha. He is 8. Biking makes tired. Hahaha.

But hey...once at our local beach he put his bike down, stands in between my legs and we cruise towards the pier and back a couple of times.. great daddy son time.
The youngest comes at the beach too. I put my kite down. Goof around.

All in all a great day.

The windgods should be good all week. I will try to keep posting updates.

https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer?fgl=true&pli=1#pho...

I am still stoked. Made progress on this wonderful kite. Has been some years since kiting and jumping around.

I fully support this message and its level of stoke!

However if you want alot of attention come fly my beaches. Alot of people have never even seen a large depower kite let alone someone screaming down the beach being towed by one. Attracts alot of lookers, sometimes right where you want to be.

Omg i feel this sport is so newnin America where its been booming in Europe for like 10 years. Basically since Frenzy 1 and Venom 1

I felt attention was too much. Makes me aware of what I am doing. I rather do my thing without noticing. But...than again...when myb oldest was riding along with me on my board...that was a blast. Just riding, nothing fancy. And he loved that attention of cams and oohs and aahs.

What beach are you at?

Up and down Oregon and Washington states. Most notably Sunset Beach

You are absolutely correct about the difference between the sport in the states and Europe.

What i see around here, and when i was in Wildwood, ots a bit unknown. Kitesurfing is more familiar.

I think the biggest difference I see is that it seems that more about cruising here and in Europe maybe more about airtime.
Looking at all the kitesurfers in this area, only a few use the kite to do tricks. I hardly ever see anyone trying to get airtime.Id happily provide that were i able to. But yeah. cheerio. And that stuff.

I also noticed 2 kite ground boarders who are actually more longboardong. No footstraps, different wheels and a very heavy and longer board.
I haven't seen a buggy yet.
I do see a lot of new kites. Speed 4 and Core kites.

in the end I think its why in the Netherlands we call it Flyboarding. When I use youtube i use that term to see some of my old friends in action.

Todays session was well spend time. And I feel very blessed to live a 2-3 minute walk from my local spot. When i want to ride Jetty Park Beach, i just kite there from my spot.
Today was not that day. Or a jump day. But still a wonderful ride.
The windgods where semi blessed. The wind was strong enough, but thw direction was to much north.

Wind direction
https://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer#photo/1051095505140229...

My shadow actually shows the direction the onshore wind was coming from. Seeing the coastline it means upwind downwind riding.

Which I did. And what a workout it turned out to be. The kite needed to make slow and low sinuses to go upwind and still follow the coastline.
Downwind it was more like doing the infinity sign, keeping the kite high and using my boarding skills to keep tension on the lines.
And the Synergy did exactly what I wanted. Good upwind and downwind qualities. It turns quick enough to pull the angles of I had to ride concerning the wind direction.

What a pleasant ride. And seriously...the view is worth it every time.

View

Packing up the kite I realised I still had my line extensions in the bag. So I hooked them up, and they get their test ride tommorow. I want to see what kind of effect it has while boarding.

For me, but it requires some riding skills, going upwind in that angle was a surprise.Discovering this increased my kiting days big time. The quick turns made this a very playfull session. The view, as always, superb.

Prr prr kitty =^.^=

Wow...I might need to resize the pictures. But not today anymore.

Yesterday's pictures

The angle I boarded compared with the wind direction (my shadow)

And the reason why it's worth while to use my home spot instead of Jetty Park beach. Almost no crowd and wonderful sunsets.

Well..I skipped todays session to work this upload system out. Was a bit rainy but omg...took me ages. Now it seems I have to makes the pics smaller before uploading.

For tomorrow's session. This will do for today.

Have a blast.

Had my last session today for at least a week or 2
The windgods seemed to deside that I had enough fun for a while.

I am really happy with my kite.
Todays dealings
Tide low but relatively high resulting in small hard stroke
Wind anywhere between 16 and 22 knots gusting a lot. And coming southeast onshore.
Kite..back on shoThe rt lines and slow steering settings from bar till the straps inside the kite. I was not into accidental kiteloops.

Upwind..loads of depower
Downwind powering the kite up.

The kite did exactly what I wanted it to do again. Very safe im this gusting winds. I could ride that small stroke all the way up and down despite the wind angle.

I did nothing silly. Hahaha.
Great day. 3 out of 4 kiting days and learning the kite in the higher windrange.

I will be busy working straight up till dec. 30 from now leaving me Sunday and Monday as only kiting days.

But I'm happy with that because I am trying to save up some bucks for a 19 venom2-V1 or 18 Synergy or 18 phantom1

I have a nice goal for my savings. I can fly the Synergy in stronger winds. I need a jump machine in lower winds.
When the sand flies over the beach, i am not flying anyway. Them spare days are not worth buying a kite for.
