Heading towards the Vegas, Yuma, and Phoenix areas in couple of weeks would love to try a trike or land board. Or any water anybody could recommend.
I don;t know these areas at all.

There is this little playa called Ivanpah about 40 minutes SW of Vegas at the NV-CA border on I-15. Just sayin...

I think what you are looking for is an intro to the sport in general. Locations for land and water are pretty extreme around Vegas. If BeamerBob can
find some time for you he is an EXCELLENT mentor. Go out of your way to try and work with his schedule and the rewards will be great!
