15,000 snow kite miles.
Well, our friend Jim Cline, aka "Long Haul Trucker" sent me an email to let me know he was less than 30 miles away from the 15,000 snow kite mile
mark.
Rock on JC!
The guy is a damn machine, no doubt.

I'm not as diligent at recording sessions as Jim is. We have a few locals that are pilots and have that DNA that enables them to be just
automatically log everything. Jim's job relies on lack of wind so when there's wind, he got the day off.
If I were to guess I'd say im in the ballpark. Until I lost my job and started our snowkite school I was averaging about 1200 miles a year. My best
season was 2800 miles. 2010 I think I got maybe 900 miles. Last year my lesson and guiding workload made for the least amount of riding I've done in
a season since I started Kiting. I don't think I got more than 500 miles. But it was a huge season and its helping offset this season.
Me and a few others around here are probably close to Jim's mileage. But we all have about 5 years head start on him so you can see he really makes
an effort. His best season was 3100 miles from the season.

That is simply amazing! I did an 80 mile day once and thought it was a ton. 100+ mile days on a regular basis is just unreal! It's obvious he has
some good legs to keep trucking like that. Rock on Jim!

He cuts trees for a living. Specializes in removal from really tight places where a dropped tree will damage structures etc... Can't do that kind of
work in windy conditions. :P
Pretty much perfect work for kiting.

I noticed he was listed on the speed ranking using a 3m apex. Does he use a quiver of apex or does he use a variety?

No that's his high wind kite. He used to use an '05 Frenzy for high winds but the Apex is a bit better. He's getting a 6m Access from us which will
pretty much eliminate the need for both his 5m Frenzy and 3m Apex as far as I can tell. The Frenzy is a beast as most kites that age are and the Apex
doesn't deal with gusts or depower as well as the Access V6 6m.
He dresses out at about 220 lbs. 6'3" maybe. Stout lad for a guy in his mid 60's. I wouldn't want to got to ground with the guy.
