Posting software changes ?

When posting more than a few lines of text I prefer to do it off line so I can interrupt it as I please, come to it later to change or correct something and have the use of a proper spelling checker. When ready I would paste it in the posting box and be done. When I did this with the last posting everything looked normal until I clicked on Preview Post when everything just disappeared. As I soon discovered this was not a glitch. Any attempt to paste wipes out everything, pasted part and written part as well when attempting to preview it or, presumably, posting it. There are few things as annoying as typing the same thing over again.

But I did not give up as I would do if I weren't answering a question and retyped the whole thing in the posting box. I clicked on Preview Post. Looked ok. Then I spotted a typo (one of those that checkers can't correct like "to" and "too" and similar) and tried to correct this. This attempt wiped out the whole box clean. Again a test confirmed that this is not a glitch. Now, how stupid is this ? . You can preview your post but you can't touch it to correct or change anything. So what's the point of previewing it ?. And it is devious in its stupidity. It allows you to waste all your time until you finish to delete everything at the end.

If these are new, brilliant ideas to discourage an occasional hacker then the cure is much worse than the disease. My motivation for posting is just not strong enough to put up with this nonsense so I will probably waste less of my time what may be a good thing - and some may agree.

Now I have to make sure I do not preview this thing and try to correct something.

Test post.

Now I have to make sure I do not preview this thing and try to correct something.
Now I have to make sure I do not preview this thing and try to correct something.

Both of those sentences were copied from your post. The first on my initial reply and the second on an edit.

Just to be sure, I went back in and repaired one and did a preview. No problems.

Thanks BeamerBob for checking this out. This is quite bizarre. Now my test message pastes, previews and corrects ok but my original message does not. There is nothing unusual in it other than it is longer than the test. I guess more testing is needed.
