It's come to my attention that I might actually be able to make it this year so I'm tentatively in.

Is there a more authoritative source about WBB info than this forum? I found an out-of-date webpage and Facebook group, but neither seem to have many details in an easy to find place.

"Is there a more authoritative source about WBB info than this forum?"

Nope.
Love us, or hate us, we (the kids that show up there) are the best info source around.
So, like WG said: What do ya wanna know?

Really, it's easy:
Call the Shalimar to book your room: 609 522 0609;
Pack your car (bring all your kites so you can show them off and maybe use one or two);
Show up! Some people show up by Wednesday, but most arrive on Thursday. (Occasionally, someone shows up as early as Monday or Tuesday)

Most rooms have kitchens (just ask when you book) and there are BBQs.
The pool will probably not be open.
Hotel to sand is about 400 feet.

31 days to go!

Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

Sorry the FB page hasn't been updated, life has definitely been in the way lately, death in the family, father had heart surgery, and a work load that all my buddies know that is non stop.

Howard and Donnie are right, most of the time, this is the best place to get info. Closer to the event, the Facebook page goes full throttle. I actually just set the October date as well and will update here and on the FB page.

If you can make it, there is no doubt you will have a good time even if the wind doesn't blow, this crew has more toys than most I've seen. If the wind blows just right, you will have the time of your life on the beach with a kite and buggy no doubt. There is always something going on.

We have an awesome group of guys and gals I gladly call family. Come join and become part of our family!

Not sure what FB page you were looking at but the dates for spring are about three post down on the page. Sorry for any confusion. I will try and figure out a way to make it stay in a title block somewhere on the page.

I think hiaguy covered the info I was most interested in. I found the dates and that there was a hotel where everyone was staying, but didn't know which one it was or where people were actually flying.

Now all I have to do is join NAPKA and figure out if I can take the time off from work.

Sitting here counting down the days 'till I head to WBB...
and that count is: 21 Days!

How reliable is the wind at Wildwood? I can make it, but I'm worried about getting skunked on my limited vacation time.

@Rofer- In six years of going to wildwood I only remember one day with no wind as for being onshore and smooth- that's a crap shoot- it does happen that we get perfect breezes but in early march it is unlikely that we will get an onshore breeze but since the beach is huge (no kidding I think it is about a qtr mile from the boardwalk to the waters edge) we can utilize any direction in a buggy. as for hardpack and mtnboard- it takes some luck- hope this helps

So the wind is almost certain, but not necessarily clean, but the hardpack is unreliable? I'll definitely have to think about it then since the mountain board is all I have for the land.

If I had a cheaper snowboard I might give kite sandboarding a try, but I don't want to do that to my real snowboard.

Wind is always a variable, but overall we've rarely had a day that hasn't had something rideable. As I recall, a "gusty" day there is still cleaner wind than I'm used to at home.

If there's a 90 degree shift, the beach at North Wildwood is available - it's literally 3 miles away. But, there have been times that the "upper" part of the beach has been almost as good as the hardpack (I'm hopeful that the beach-grooming trucks will still be in winter storage).

One of the reasons that WBB is so early this year is that conferences and the tides have played havoc with scheduling. With riders preferring the hardpack at low tide, this is the latest/only low-tide-at-midday weekend available (before the tourists begin to clutter the beach).

Regardless, there's not a better group of people to learn from and enjoy spending time with. A bad day with the crew at WBB is better than an other day at work.

Here are some images of last spring: flic.kr/s/aHsk9JgYzt

See you there!
