Thanx B,

I was looking at their entry board the offstreet 103 since Im a complete noob to boarding. I surf with my kids but this is a whole new ball game, and the price looks good. Boarding at the beach in SC is def an off season event. Too many vacationers from Apr-Oct. I would be doing most of my boarding at one of the local university intramural fields, and the state fair grounds.. How would this board rate on grass? As usual...........................

Isn't the 103 the AK?? Has it been re-released as the Offstreet?

If so, and you are 185#s, I think you're on the top end of that boards weight limit - especially since you like to jump.

The AK 103 was a super flexi board and I'm only 145#s. A 185# guy up here broke his AK jumping with his Venom and then replaced it with the Patrol deck. If the Offstreet is there new entry level board, I think I'd avoid it if you want to jump.

I've never rode my board on the beach. Personally, I don't like flying at the beach. I know the winds are so much better but I don't like the damage the sand can do to your equipment (I come out of a dual line, framed kite background though and kites with spar tunnels and mylar can take a beating by the sand paper effect of the beach)

My GI board is great on grass (so long as the grass is less than 6" tall or so. Damp grass is fun for power sliding. Frozen grass is fun for bomber runs. Regular old grass is great for crusing and carving, etc.

I really don't think any board you buy will be negatively effected by grass vs. sand. If anything, soft sand is worse as you'll suddenly come to a stop or get jerked off your board.

Plus, the grass is far less damaging to your bearings.

If you don't like the ride of your GI, just get a softer or stiffer cube and you've got a whole new board.

One more thing... I don't think they are making raptor bindings anymore. I had a chance to get them with my board but didn't want to have to drill holes through my first deck so I stuck with the Talons.

No matter what its going to take you a bit to get the bindings set up the way you want them but I'd avoid the Raptors if they still have them or any other binding with a heel strap at first.

Hi
I have both the Ground Industries Patrol and MBS 26x.
Love the GI Patrol. Fast and responsive.. Built nice and tough.
The MBS 26x is a Beast. Not responsive, but will roll over anything and super fast Straight down hill.
I like the bindings better on the GI Patrol..

Im a tall guy so thats why I went for the larger boards..

Also, I have delt with the people at GI and they've always been cool...
