anti aircraft
Went to my favorite spot today only to find my arch nemesis. RC plane guy occupying my air space. I took to short line and longboard to pass the
time until he left so I could buggy. By the time he left, I missed most of the good wind.
Maybe there is a way to jam his remote or make some sort of surface to air missiles with my model rockets :puzzled:

Gotta get there first Sean. I am a bit surprised that they would be flying model planes if there is enough wind to buggy though. Anyway - jamming is
probably your best bet. I would see if you can do it from a distance away so that when his plane flies off, or crashes you won't be under suspicion.
:D
Here you go.

That may not work. This instruction show you how to build a simple RF jammer/noise generator for 0-128MHZ.
All the new transmitters are 2.4 gig. If the antenna is less than 6" the jammer wont work.
On the other hand if the antenna is about 3ft long then you have a chance because that transmitter is working in the 74 meg range.
Jamming a guys radio, that's pretty low.

This once happened to me a while back... I just asked the guy if he'd stick to one half of the field and I'd stay on the other... if he came over to
"my half" he was at a higher altitude .... really his toys are in just as much jeopardy as yours if they collide, so its to both people's benefit if
you can agree on something and abide by it.
I'm going to take a nap now

You're not alone. I've had RC guys, one guy with a boomerang and some drunks guys try to hit me with golf balls...awe good times.
Like was previously suggested I would just talk to the guy. I can't imagine it would be a big deal for him to just fly 'around' the kite and lines,
but what to I know, I don't hang with the RC crowd...maybe they take their flying seriously?
Not sure you were serious about the jamming part, but isn't that illegal? Had to mention it because I could have sworn I remembered reading something

No not serious at all. More of a friendly competition for air space. I haven't talked to him but have tried to wave or say hi, but he usually keeps
to himself. We were parked on opposite ends of the field and I thought I might set up and stay on my end but he was flying low and using the entire
airspace so I left the buggy parked on the field loaded with kites and gear and used the longboard in the adjoining parking lot. I did get an ok
session in on the buggy after he left but wind was very inconsistent. one of those days where I work the kite like mad giving up ground slowly all
the way to the fence line then just when I'm about to give up I get a few decent blasts that keep me interested and gain my ground back. Ground was
soft too so that stole a good bit of power as well.
I've never had drunk guys try to hit golf balls at me though :o
Besides RC guy and a random jogger, I'm usually completely by myself.

I met a guy at the lake who comes to some of the same spots I do who has an RC glider. We get along great - very interesting guy. Used to be a hang
glider test pilot before he retired. A few weeks ago, I met a couple of guys with an RC plane just as I was leaving from flying my kites. Stayed to
watch - but wished I hadn't - they crashed the plane on the first flight. Kind of sad.

We have RC guys on the opposite side of the road which includes an actual partial concrete runway left over from a bygone era when the surrounding
area was an aerodrome back in 1910-1950s. They have their patch we have ours. Our only real threat comes in the form of feral kids on ATVs who are
oblivious to kites and lines. Should they ever run over the lines, their tyres will pick them up and wrap themselves around their axle dragging the
kite with it which could potentially end in an accident.
