People are already arriving and making their way from close and far. The last tweaks to the last things were wrapped up last night. Big surprise
awaits attendees this year. We will post pics early and often. Very cool items in the raffle and auction again this year. Can't wait to get dusty!

Winds look to be picking up for Monday! 30's up to 40 mph. Whupp!
For buggying I'm going to start with this little fella, a custom 1.5m NS3:
[img] [/img]
Later in the week it looks as if the wind will settle down quite a bit. It will be cool to get such a big variety of winds, good chance to experiment
with lots of different kites in the quiver! :karate:

You can use that avatar as much as you want. Glad you like it. When you get to IBX, you will see them in real life. The one in our avatars is about
6 inches tall. They will fit nicely on a desk. I have one on the front porch made from stainless steel ,it is about 2.5 ft tall. IAnyone who can't
get one @ IBX can get one from me,but they aren't cheap.

Wind speed Monday?
Did I see that winds will be 59 mph on Monday?
What can you even fly in that speed? Do they make a 0.2m kite?
Will anyone fly so I can watch the crash? Yikes!

On those days we used to just hold our jackets open with our arms.
Kinda tough to go upwind though.

Gotta agree! I had thought I'd be getting up at 0'dark:30 Monday morning to drive for an afternoon session Monday but now I think I'll wake up at a
normal hour, take my daughter to school, come home and pack, THEN drive down. That will have me at Primm late afternoon Monday. Just in time to live
another day and kite the heck out of things Tuesday and Wednesday.

Just got the best of all news from my wife today! She has decided that she is not going to do the thing she had planned on Thursday so I can push
back my IBX trip to Tuesday - Thursday instead of Mon-Wed. With the wind howling Monday this was going to be a sit out day anyway. Stoked! See
people on the playa mid-day Tuesday!

Hey Ralph
Yes from what you are looking at on google directly to the east of the golf course on the other side of the highway is area of Ivanpah that is used.
The base camp is set up along the eastern edge of the lakebed. You access the lake from the northern end at Primm and drive along the edge south a few
miles to where everyone is set up.
Sometimes with the wind direction the riders head toward the highway and back and more often it's a digonal or running down the middle is great. it
takes some getting used to depth perception and a mirage effect when racing toward the highway. You think you are ripping up to it and start to slow
to down to find it's still a long way off, then speed up and ride a bit and again you think you are close and slow down to see it's still a ways off.
Looking to the west of the golf course you'll see the three large solar plants - when you see photos from IBX there is often a sheen and light flare
in the background of the shots which is from the mirrors.

Wow Monday definitely looks epic. I had plan on getting out there Monday to try out my new high wind tool (Access 4m) but conditions just look too
extreme, besides 50mph winds all night just isn't conducive to a pleasant night sleep on the playa. Like Bobby said I'll live to kite another day
instead. Will just have to console myself with kitesurfing Monday. Looking forwards to seeing everyone on the playa.

I went down to Ivanpah today to take coolers down for The Dirt Nap. It's so awesome to see folks there I haven't seen in a year. I got to see the die
pressed coins that will be the prize for completing Dirt Nap and a new event as well. As the event grows, folks are stepping up and doing things they
want, to make the event better. We expect even more growth this year and more people stepping up and taking charge of something they are good at.
Seeing the attendance numbers growing makes it worth the hundreds of hours it takes to put it all together. I'm looking forward to the best IBX yet!

I have met people already that I know will be with me until the end of days. That is absolutely awesome!
Looking forward to heading a convoy of buggies and Manta out to all the dirt nap sites. That is going to be a LOT of fun!
