JIBE 2017 Dates Preliminary

Thanks to everybody for making JIBE 2016 a great success - again.

Nice to see the whole family back together again and to welcome new attendees. I'm e-mailing Jekyll Island Authority right now

JIBE 2017 looks like Monday May 8 (low tide 1:49 pm) to Friday May 12 (low tide 4:10 pm).

Ted and Holly had it right booking their cottage for the first two weeks in May 2017 knowing that JIBE would be one or the other of the first two weeks. We will book the Gritz Carlton cottage again shortly. This time I will take the entire full week off from work (don't want to miss the luncheon weenie roast).

Can't wait to see the photos this year, especially the video of MarS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s backwards Dead-man turn to the tune of multi-part harmony from screaming women.

Jekyll Island Authority has signed off on JIBE Dates 4/8/17 to 4/12/17. Thursday 4/11 there will be set-up for the Turtle Crawl Marathon, but that has never bothered us before.

Mark, I heard no comment or complaint related to the pissy little kid from the JI Pavillion. Everything is good. JIA considers us good guests and stewards, and I thank everybody for that. We even co-existed with a rare plover nest in the dunes in front of Tortuga JacS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s.

Today I saved two Terapin turtles on or near the causeway. One was actually hit /dinged by a truck as I pulled over to re-direct traffic. She flipped and rolled like a hub cap but was alive with a cut to to her carpace (shell). I started to drive her to the Turtle Center E/R on Jekyll but saw the "Turtle Patrol" van on he causeway and flagged them down. They took a full report and think she will make it fine but rushed her off for treatment at the Turtle Center to be sure.. The second rescue was a simple relocation from the road with no incident. Most drivers are cool and will immediately slow down and pull over for a turtle in peril.

Randy, it has always been in May... I assumed Angus meant 5/8-12... like he had said in the original post... plus 4/8-4/12 is a Saturday through Wednesday... that can't be right. :D
