I can't seem to find anywhere online that sells a set of quad-lines in 300# Spectra. Can anyone point me in the right direction???

Have you thought about making a set out of bulk line. You can buy 300# line from Wind Power Sports. They are not hard to make just take a little time. I think I saw a post about how to make them. I can tell you how I do it if you are interested.

Yes, I would love to know how to make a set. I mean, I know what knots to tie. I just don't know how to ensure that they are all the exact same length. Any tips are appreciated.

I am sure that there are other methods but this is how I do it. First off I don’t worry about the exact length of the line set just that all four are equal so a 100 foot set might end up being 98 feet. If I want a 100 foot set I would buy two 200 ft bulk spools. I also have a few extra figure eight winders to keep the lines on till the set is done you can use a heavy piece of cardboard. The first thing I do is stretch the lines to do that you will need some space I have enough room in my yard that I can tie a rope around a tree and hook on to it I use a snap carabineer, not and expensive one but one you get at the check out at Home Depot. Put a loop in the free end on the spool of line and hook it on. Then play out the line making a 100 ft loop and connect it back to the carabineer. If I am making a light set 90-100# I might loop all four lines but with 300# you will really want to stretch it good two at a time. I put a wooden dowel through the end of the long loop and pull with all of my weigh. I don’t jerk it but a long steady pull really leaning and letting the lines hold me up. You will be able to feel them stretch. Let the line relax and pull again. You will want to pull them 6 to 10 times the last couple of times I will “bounce” the line, not a hard jerk but the sort of feel that you have as up power a kite through the window. There will still be some give in the lines but they will feel tighter. If you don’t get them stretched well they will stretch as you fly and be different lengths. When they are stretched mark the line at the dowel or cut the line. I just mark it because I use a pencil soldering iron to cut the lines. Wrap this pair up and repeat with the other set. You then can finish one end of each line with sleeves and loops. Take all four lines to where you stretched them and hook them to the fixed point. Tie small loops in the other end. This is where I get a little picky but I have two 50 lbs fish scales so I know the tension is consistent. Take the shortest one and mark it about 12”-18” from the end Hook it and one of the other lines to the two scales and pull with the same tension mark the second line at the same spot as the first one. This is really easy with two people but I have done it myself. Repeat the process with the other two lines. You can now wind the lines up again and sleeve and make the loops making sure the end of the loop is equal distance from the marks you made. The lines will equal length and ready to fly. I will check them after I fly them awhile but if I stretched them well enough I don’t have any problem. I fly a lot of Revolutions and I switch my lines top to bottom every so often to even any stretch they might have. Most foils have lighter weight brake lines so that doesn’t work.

If you are coming to NABX and can wait that long bring the line with you and we can make them there it will take about an hour. I will be in the big white fifth wheel with dark green truck.
