Hi, I'm new to this, so I ask, would be a mistake buy 4mm diameter lines for traction lines of a kite Nasa 3m2 for Buggy?

I have few options because I'm in Argentina. I can get Dyneema 2mm (more expensive) and Dacron 4mm, both with the same resistance (240kg). I know the benefits of Dyneema, but I want to avoid overspending for my wallet.

if I use lines of 4mm thick, be very difficult nasa flight?

How long of lines do you plan on using? Short lines 5m or less and decent wind I can get away using para cord so if using shorter lines you could probably use whatever you want. Not sure about long lines. I've only used dyneema. My guess is you could get away with the Dacron but not sure.

Thick lines create a tremendous amount of drag which slows down the kite to a point where it will not even fly. Spend the extra money and buy the thinner lines you'll be much happier.

So if I opt for the lines "2mm Dyneema 240kg" you could use in the future for Nasa 4m2? 240kg resistance would be sufficient? (My weight is 73kg)

Your welcome. I want to clarify my response was for flying nasa's on 2 lines. If using 4 lines, you wouldn't want any heavy/thick lines.

Also, if using 30m lines, I would definitely want spectra or dyneema. Yes, 240kg dyneema would be sufficient for any size nasa as far as strength. You could go lighter dyneema for brake line if you want.

The typical line lengths are 20 or 25 meters.

Typical line strengths are(in Dyneema) 100kg for brake and 200 kg strength for power/leading edge.

Are you flying on two handles or a bar?


Significant Increase in either of above creates more drag....





If you will also be flying in tight spaces with your crash-able single-skin Nasa, and want another set of VERY SHORT lines- say 3-8 meters, the Dacron would be just fine on these VERY SHORT lines.

240 kg Dyneema is fine on LONG lines.... or short lines. If lighter line in dyneema is available for the brake lines , go lighter as suggested.

The 240 kg Dacron- being twice as thick and heavier) would not be good for Long lines...
