5.5m and 7m Nasa Star 3's All sold

I'm thinking about passing on my quiver of Nasa Star 3's, but I am wondering if there is any interest at all. There is a beautiful 12m giant calling my name, but I am curious if there would be enough interest in the Nasa's to raise the funds.

I have a 4m, 5.5m, 7m, and 10m all in VERY good condition. Only flown on the beach and grass fields. The 7m is the most used, but there is no wear on it, maybe just a little dirty. I have 1 bar and line set for the whole quiver and can part it all out or sell it as an entire quiver.

Her's what I'm thinking about for pricing (UPDATED: all sold except for the 2 remaining below)

All Sold!!!!

I'm most ready and willing to part with the 4m and 5.5m as they go least used since I've had the 6m Peak1

I also have a 2.6m PL Viper S that goes unused as well that i can sell. Super stable killer upwind little kite for sure. $100 (sold)

I've tried to post pics, but am having trouble with my Photobucket account.

let me know if you're interested through U2U or email me at soliver (at) northmetro.org

I got your email Ed. Thanks, I'll respond asap. With that, the 10m may be sold if I decide to move on this. (Which I probably will).

Anyone interested in any of the smaller sizes?

Ed - based on your notes from the other thread, might I suggest (and dare I say encourage) you consider doing business here with Spencer too for the NS3s? You can absolutely trust him and picking up gently used NS3s from him will save you bucks on shipping from Germany. The thing with single skin kites like the NS3 is they are quite hard to destroy unless you crash them into barbwire fences, etc. Pile driving them into the sand, snow, or grass is a non-event, unlike a dual layered foil where you might blow the cells out in a similar event. Bottom line, it's generally a good move buying NS3s gently used as Spencer's are here.

Also, as you've noted, the single skins launch in a breath of wind. Get these beauties off the street before they go to somebody else! :karate:

This is turning out to be my best kite day in recent memory. With zero to 4mph variable. Fog is thick, ground temp is below the dew point and if it doesn't rain it will have missed a good chance. Perfect huh?

Howsomuchever it turns out I'm getting a Peak. Also Mr Steve is working out how I'm going to get my 10 and not leave Mr Spencer with naked kites for sale. It'll be good however it works out I'm sure. It will. The Peel I just sold arrived in Fla. on time and someone on the bay is asking about the twister for sale!

Last night alone, thinking how can I go to bed so early like an stereotypical old guy. Weather says no kiting tomorrow. When I woke up at zero dark thirty I found that the early bird really does get the worm. Happy Happy Joy Joy. I better buy a lottery ticket, this might be my day.

So the 10m is definitely sold and will be shipped out to its new owner on Monday.

That leaves the 4m, 5.5m, 7m and Bar/lines combo.
If you buy all three kites for $400, I'll throw in the bar free of charge, otherwise they are still at the prices listed above.

When you calculate in the Euros to Dollars exchange and add in the German 19% VAT plus overseas shipping of buying them new, this comes to this is at or under 50% of retail (bought new) price... IMO its a pretty smoking' deal for some killer kites!

As I also said, I have a 2.6m Peter Lynn Viper S I will sell for $100. Great storm kite!... a monstrous little bugger that is fast and strong with excellent upwind capability!

Going.... going....

Great kites at great prices guys! If you own some NASA stars already but perhaps not the 5.5 or 7m sizes this is your chance to expand your quiver!

If you are new to the NS3 crowd (and where the heck have you been? :D ) know that these beauties fly great off of two lines, three lines, or even four. I personally have my NS3s rigged to fly in all three configurations (Z-bridled) and really enjoy them. For pure, steady grunt these kites are hard to beat. These can be serviceable off of short lines too, but I would note that in these larger sizes the wind has to be pretty clean for good flight to avoid backstalls.

If you're looking to get in on the NS3 craze for the first time and want to pick up a bar and lines from Steffen Born in Germany his 3-line bar setup is 108 EU and his line set is 50 EU. You'll have to pay to get them from Germany of course which is a bit more. A great starter quiver would be Spencer's used 5 and 7.5m kites along with a new 4m, bar and line set from Germany.

You know you want some chicken!

Can't believe you passed on my 6m P2. I suspect you won't see one of those come again for a while. Assuming your auto signature is up to date it doesn't appear that you have a 5.5m NS3. For traction kiting with wheels under your feet you've got a pretty big NS3 jump between 4m and 7m. Just sayin....:karate:

Believe me...it took a lot of will power especially when you mentioned free shipping . But after thinking about it, it wouldn't of really been a practical purchase for me. I would probably only use it for streetkiting and my inland bike path location is pretty close to a road that runs through the park so the extended line length would have been sketchy. However, for the 1 mile in each direction road in Oxnard, it would have been perfect! Unfortunately, I just don't get to it as much as I would like. And the fact that I should really be selling kites and not buying them.

I need to update my sig....I got the 5.5m.

Looking forward to reading your review on the Peak 3's!

Sale is finalized for the 2.6m Viper S and it will be shipping out tomorrow.

The 4m and Bar are also being shipped out tomorrow.

That leaves the 5.5m and 7m.

The above price has them at $135 and $165 respectively. Anyone interested in both can have them for $265 + shipping for the pair... thats a STEAL IMO

Randy just came out to the church and Snatched up the 7m, Gotta tell you guys, Randy's sewing skills are SUPER impressive!... He showed me a small closed cell foil he had just finished and it looks immaculate. AND he GAVE me a very large single line Pan Flute style foil to try for some KAP and it looks awesome too! He's got some awesome stuff guys.

So,... I'm down to the 5.5m and there has been some interest, ... I'll keep you posted.

Flew the ten today, Turns pretty fast. When the wind shifts it just hangs there and waits for it to come back. I also gained confidence in my hook today. Who says NASA kites don't have any lift? Need to shorten the depower line a little though. Drop the loop, point one end of the bar at the kite and it sits there growling, then you can look down to see how much you pee'd. Thanks S.

I can vouch for the lift of the larger NS3s. In the attached video I got lifted right off the ground during the first flight at around 20 seconds into the video. Nothing overly dramatic, the kite just went to zenith and decided to keep on climbing with me with it. This was the 10m's big brother the 12.5m. You can get a good feel for how large this kite actually is from around 2:30-2:45. HUGE! I'd recommend caution when flying these big NS3s (8.5, 10, and 12.5). Wind gusts on that much ripstop in a FB configuration can be a lot to deal with, especially harnessed to the bar. Be ready to pull the safety!

Happy buyers and sellers all around thanks to PKF!

I haven't done the math, but I figure a 7.0 for a guy my size (about 132 or 60kg) would be about the same as 180 pound guy with a 9 or 10 M.

The wind is is going to be 15 from the NNW to SSW. Bug in the truck. A joy for some of y'all, but beyond my skill level. Beyond my skill level is a hard admission, but someday....
I may have a single line day, it's been awhile since the Edo, Trilobite, ... and the boxes saw sun.
If I had a little kite I might be braver, even then I might find me underneath a buggy in the grass. Oh string burn and claw anchors, it's all good.
Besides my mom likes the videos which power kiting makes difficult. Sorry to digress, you know how old guys are.

Good call Ed, there is a stark difference between gusty inland 15mph wind and smooth beach 15mph wind,... once again can determine whether you come home wearing the same pants as the ones you had on when you left the house.

You should come down to JIBE in May!... Raleigh is not so far as to make the drive to Jekyll Island very far at all!
