Camping and the pre-event

I plan on camping for the pre-event and the main event. I was going to drive in on Thurs. the 29 th and join Dooley out at Elmers. Anyway since he will not be able to make the event this year I need to know when others who are camping will be arriving and at what lake bed. A girl can not be too safe.

Thanks

Susan

My Dad and I should be there Friday morning at the latest. We're leaving Cinci, OH wednesday early hauling the camper. We might make it by thursday night, but probably not before dark with 2 drivers and 25 hrs of traveling.

we've never been to Elmers, should it be easy to find everyone? :)

Can't wait to be back out there!

Hey Chip

I have only been there once and that was last year. Once you get onto the lake bed drive down the center for several miles and look for other buggyers to the right. We all gather at Walts cove.

See you next week.

I presume the road on to the lakebed is reasonable enough for a pickup and small camper trailer to drive on?

Thanks Shannon I always work hard at being safe. This year I have a co-pilot. He just turned a year old. He will be the pretty boy at my side and riding in the buggy with me.

Thanks for the memories, Don!

Jeez, Don, not a dry eye in my house, after watching that little video...

Thanks for the great shots of camp, of my Old Glory snapping in the breeze, and especially those precious memories of our dear, departed Dave Kennedy.

Know that he's with you guys, at NABX 2007, and that I never camp at Elmer's anymore without feeling his presence, especially in those silent moments at dawn and dusk, when the glorious, luminous desert skies remind me of Dave's bare-foot patrol of the early morning Buggytown, usually bringing coffee or some early humor to my door, and opening the day the way only Dave could.

Cripes, I'm crying again... I'm really gonna miss the trip this year.

That video was also very special for me as well. It was my very first afternoon on a dry lake bed and also the day that I had met up with the first of my buggy family outside of my own backyard. Along with some fine desert dining from Mike and Dave.

Thank you Don, that was awesome.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be leaving until Thurs. and will meet up with everyone at Superior on Sat. A friend of mine lost her husband in a motorcycle accident this past weekend and I am going to sing for the funeral on Weds.

See everyone on Saturday. I can already taste the dust.

Susan, I, too, am sorry for your friends loss. There is nothing to say to ease what she will be going thru... but it may help her to know she is not alone. I would like to join Sockhat in sending my regards...

On another note, when are people heading to Superior? I will be leaving LAX at about 10pm and can either head to Elmers or Superior. Will anybody be at Superior by midnight Friday night?

The trialer has been retired. I'm afriad to tow it with all the rust and the colony of wasps that have made it home the last few years in my driveway. I'll try and think of something else to bring for your amusement ;)

When and where will you be? Some folks are talking Superior and some are talking Elmers.

Apparently the more reliable wind of Elmers is outweighed by the lack of ATVs on Superior. I'll be driving to Superior sometime on Saturday, from Elmers.

Thanks Susan, Thanks Steve,

I'm probably not going to be able to leave till Friday afternoon. That puts me at Elmers around midnight. Assuming that holds true, I'll crash there for the night and join the migration to Superior in the morning.

Thanks,
