Gents, I wanted to thank you all for the great time I had at my first JIBE event! Even going for just two days I experienced a lot:
Monday we had that perfect on-shore and I rode up and down the beach and simply had a blast honing my skills!
Tuesday was that south-east wind and I bombed up the beach... and then spent the next two hours learning how difficult it is to tack. Ultimately it
ended in my first "walk of shame" 3 miles back to my umbrella!
I have been officially "initiated" by the wind!
I was super impressed with how friendly and accepting y'all were. It was great to meet you guys in-person. One thing I really didn't expect was that
practically everyone I met offered to let me to use their gear! It definitely encouraged me to be a little less possessive of my own stuff when I
teach friends
Also, it was awesome to be able to "talk kite" with people who
understand words like "flagging" "stalling" "luffs" all that. Finally, around other people who don't give me that dumb look when I say I like to fly
kites!
I feel like I'm growing guys, before JIBE I used to be crawling, and now I'm... crawling much faster. :D
:cool2: Here's to progress! Can't wait to see everybody next year. Maybe by then I will have more than just a tensor 3.1 in my quiver.
