Got my first buggy coming next week. Never sat in one before. Would love to catch up with any of you guys that goes out in Nahant.

Was there this past weekend early in the morning and did not see any kites in the air.

Going again on Saturday morning (weather permitting) to fly static.

Hopefully the following weekend I'm out there in a bug. Yippee

The bug is here and finally put together.
Yipee, just got to find the right wind, tide, and empty beach now to take her out for a spin. Arghh, so many things got to be just right before it can go for a beach stroll.

Guys please let me know if anyone is planning to be out there any time soon.

Land kiters have had a tenuous relationship with the DCR for the past few years over the summer. Not sure how this summer will shape up but you are highly advised not to ride during beach going hours until Labor Day. Some ride all summer in the evening. Some go during the day. Some have been kicked off the beach. Sometimes all out bans are enacted. I know you want to use your new buggy but if the weather is nice and the beach is crowded you should rethink your desire or you or all may be banned.

Was planning either very early am between 5-6, or a light rain day so no people are around. Did not know the concerns with DCR but given my lack of experience I would be very worried to ride around other people anyways.
Is there any other place around here that is more suitable for bugging at this time of the year.

All public beaches are busy in season , except on cool or wet days. Early evenings on other days after folks have gone are possibilities. Early mornings work too...folks don't arrive in droves 'til mid morning.

Nothing more suitable than Nahant.

Got to take advantage of the cloudy weather and took the buggy out at the end of the beach, by tides restaurant, in late afternoon.
What a blast. Wind was SE at 6-8 mph and I managed to stay on the buggy without any OBE experience.
Saw another kite half way on the beach and by the time I was done for the day figured out that they set up there so the wind could be perpendicular to the beach. Tried to make my way there in the buggy but apparently it is not as easy to tack agains the wind.

Thank you for the advice, it really helped today, I did much better.
Started with about 10 mph wind quartering the beach and the PKD Buster 4.4. Ran at a brisk pace in the optimal direction, than started coming back in a zig zag fashion. About half way from the starting point the wind dropped to almost nothing (could barely keep the kite in the air even when stationary), so still had to do the walk of shame. :D

Oh well, at least the frozen lakes haven't been banned yet.

We've all had to do it. That's why a tow strap isn't optional.
