Howdy!
Hey all, been lurking around for a couple weeks soaking up kiting/land boarding info, figured it was time to stop in and say hi!
It's taken me a while to get around to kiting - I saw some folks doing it in Maui on my honeymoon in 98... been wanting to try ever since. It's silly
that it's taken so long - this is pretty much every sport I've ever done wrapped up in one... sailing, water skiing, snowboarding, hang gliding, skate
boarding, surfing... (did I forget any? Dang I'm getting old... super sorry to tell you I'm not going to be fresh young blood for the sport)
So, besides saying hi, my ulterior motive is to not have my first post be "What kite should I buy?". Look for my second post in the
Kites and Accessories section (pretty proud of myself - I read the sticky in the Landboard section
btw, been really hoovering up the great info here - you all rock.

Hi, Jeff. As some would say: Welcome to the monkey house.
I'll assume that the post you're referring to is the venerable "Before you ask..."
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=28759
If so, you're well on your way and doing the right things! Then again, it's taken you 19 years to get here so we'll be patient with you
If the "nyc" indicates where you live, you need to be making plans to join us in Wildwood next month. (Looks like the drive is less than three hours!)
But, most of all, ask questions! There's a great range of locations and conditions to be considered and this group represents most of them. You'll get
differing opinions as answers, but they'll be based (mostly) on experience with a safety-first attitude.
Fly safe :wee: ,
Howard
Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

Thanks Howard! Wildwood sounds great - that's by Cape May, yes? Where can I find more info on it? Will definitely go if I can. Saw the drone video,
that looks like a fantastic beach!
edit - just discovered an entire forum here for WBB. An honest to goodness Sherlock Holmes.

Just a small warning Jeff:
I came to WBB just to "check it out" in October 2011 and haven't managed to miss it since.
