the wind here is 13 mph, just wondering cos im new to this kiting stuff. will my exit 1.8 fly in this wind or am i waisting my time

a 1.8M should fly in those winds... may not giv eyou a ton of pull but if you're new it's probably a good starting wind.

been raining all day so didn;t get a chance to get it out. whats the best speed for this kite?

Learning is always best in 8-12mph, with that kite, 15mph should be fine as well.

Once you get it dialed in you should have no problem holding onto that kite in 30mph. But you have to know what not to do for that. You'll probably end up really liking the 1.8m in over 20mph.

I agree with pablo.

I love me 2.5 in anything over 20mph. The 5.5 is fun in the 15-20 as well if i feel like jumping.

Once you get the hang of the kite, 30+ won't be a problem with that kite. It'll pull pretty well and be really fast through the window.

you shouldn't take that kite out in anything over 15 or so until you either feel comfortable with it, or decide you are crazy, but if you decide you are crazy, be prepared to get hurt or extremely scared.

Also in really high wind even a very low-lift kite can pull you right off the ground and slam you back down even faster. You just need to know how the kite handles and where it generates it's power and lift. Just get familiar with the kite and you'll know when you can fly it without looking at the wind speeds. There is so much feel to this sport and you will get that in time.

In short, be safe, don't do anything too stupid, and have fun. That's all of my advice for the moment.

You should be alright, just be careful and don't overfly your abilities.

well im back now, and yeah that was pretty good! kept it in the air for an hour non stop, my arms are killing me now.
ive done figure of eights looped it back and for up and down, is their anything else i can do?
if i get a board when your riding it can you turn around and ride against the wind....cheers

You can turn a small angle up into the wind, and how far will depend from kite to kite, it's size, your weight, and what surface you are on (tarmac, grass, sand etc) - the softer the surface the more rolling resistance you'll have.

Is the Exit a 2 line power kite? If so you might think about looking at 4 line power kites if you're thinking of getting into boarding (land or kitesurfing, you didn't say which?)

Some basic things, like even though the kite's easy to hold parked overhead in strong wind, it's a really bad idea to bring a kite that's flying low overhead quickly. If the lines are twisted and the kites well lit, it's usually a bad idea to loop the kite to untwist the lines, better to spin your body. If the kite's fully lit, it's a bad idea to swoop it directly down wind of you 10ft off the ground. These mistakes with an ok powered kite will be fun and get you dragging, if they're done when you're fully powered up they can spank you pretty badly.

The little things can spank you pretty hard, and when a mistake is made with a big kite, you can get floated down, with a small kite you tend to get dropped pretty quickly. Big kites can hurt as well though, I landed a jump on the ATB with my 16m Scorpion, Kite's redirected low to get some more power in it after the landing. I lean forwards a hare too much as I ride out of it and instead of doing something smart like hopping the board to get it pointed the right way to catch me, I take a foot out of the bindings and step forwards. Before I knew it I got spun out the front door, landed heels first, straight over backwards and cracked my head pretty good, I ended up 20ft away from the board on my back, head first. Somehow one of my shoes made it another 20ft past where I stopped. One simple mistake when lit can make a big impact. Worst part of it was no cameras around to capture the moment.

Next time I'm keeping my feet in and taking my chances.

guys im getting a bit bored with this kite now, think ive got it sussed (prob not tho)..... do you reckon the pansh ace would be a good investment for me next.

The Ace is a hot topic at the mo on Racekites forum but as of today their stock is depleted. Kick back and read the reviews then go with your gut! Looking at the specs on the Ace, it may be a bit lifty for your first four liner for a board (A/R is 4.53) The Pansh Legend gets high marks for boarding, flying characteristics, and quality for price! i dont have a board as yet just wanna get the hang of flying diff kites. ive been able to fly this kite in 30 mph wind. it was all good till the metal by the handle bent with the pressure of the wind.
