Corey who?

From Merriam-Webster online...

The Word of the Day for May 16, 2007 is:
corybantic • kor-ee-BAN-tik • adjective

: like or in the spirit of a Corybant; especially : wild, frenzied

Example Sentence:
From the sound of the first guitar chord, the mosh pit looked like a swarm of bees in a corybantic dance.
Did you know?
The big name in goddesses in Phrygia (Asia Minor) in the fifth century B.C. was Cybele (also called Cybebe or Agdistis), the "Great Mother of the Gods." According to Oriental and Greco-Roman mythology, she was the mother of it all: gods, humans, animals . . . even nature itself. The Corybants were Cybele's attendants and priests, and they worshipped her with an unrestrained frenzy of wildly emotional processions, rites, and dances. "Corybantic," the adjective based on the name of Cybele's attendants, can be used to describe anything characterized by a similarly unrestrained abandon.

Hmmm... sound like someone Corybantic whom we all know and love?

(This was just too cool not to post here)

Oh, yes, of course!

Yes, dear... we must all bow and genuflect and worship the mighty Lama, for to know him is to, well, not in the Biblical sense, of course, but yes, we love him... and he cleans up real nice!

We can only hope he's lurking somewhere 'round here, and will take note of our mutual adoration, and reward us with nuggets of wisdom flung from the inner reaches of his new MONSTER van.

Then again, some o' them nuggets are getting a bit moldy... methinks the Lama is overdue for another trip to "the Mountain".

I think we should call his parents and insist they participate in our worship, since they know how truly Holy he really is... heh, heh, heh.

Corybantic, ain't it? :moon:

Geez.
Don't you people have lives?

I can only assume, while at the same time holding onto hope, that this is all a metaphor.
Like the greast unwashed masses know what a metaphor is...

(scurrying sounds, looking it up in the dictionary)

I am not your leader.
At times, I may be an instigator.
But I'm wandering lost in the wilderness myself.
It is an unwanted burden to be leading others into the chaos.

It's not a place we're seeking anyway...
It's merely an idea.

I don't even know if one can be taken there.
Perhaps the journey is the needed part.
It might be that even if we find it... Others still must find theirs
I simply don't know.

But you can't quote me on that.

I've found that some folks just have to believe in something.
Some Sunday Morning Loud Talker
Or hitting a jackpot.

I believe I'll have another drink.

Just don't miss this coming Sprang Thang.
From Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd.
At Walt's Cove in El Mirage Dry Lake.

from the eminent words of Brian....

BRIAN:
Good morning.

A blessing! A blessing! A blessing!...
BRIAN:
No. No, please! Please! Please listen. I've got one or two things to say.
FOLLOWERS:

BRIAN:
Look. You've got it all wrong.
You don't need to follow me. You don't need to follow anybody! You've got to think for yourselves. You're all individuals!
FOLLOWERS:
Yes, we're all individuals!
BRIAN:
You're all different!
FOLLOWERS:
Yes, we are all different!

I'm not.
ARTHUR:
Shhhh.
FOLLOWERS:
Shh. Shhhh. Shhh.
BRIAN:
You've all got to work it out for yourselves!
FOLLOWERS:
Yes! We've got to work it out for ourselves!
BRIAN:
Exactly!
FOLLOWERS:

BRIAN:
No! That's the point! Don't let anyone tell you what to do!

Comes the Dawn..

After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand a chaining a soul. You learn that love doesn't mean learning and company dosen't mean security. That kisses are not contracts and presents are not promises. You learn to hold your head up with the grace of a woman not the grief of a child. You learn to build all your roads on today because life is to un-certian for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. You learn that you really are strong you really can endure and you really do have worth. You learn and you learn with every goodbye you learn. No one can make you feel inferior without you permission.

Corey cleans up real nice - and does a pretty cool Corybantic - but bow down to him? Aren't you worried it might go to his head?
