snowfeet again

2 days, 2 totally different conditions. day one gave me 3-4 inches of wet, heavy snow. 15-25 mph. i didn't have much time before the daylight ended. 4.9 blade on 7m lines was useless in the shifty wind. 3.5 rage saved the day but the long lines left me very little room to do anything in my small field. found out that the snowfeet attract the snow in those conditions and left me with very large clumps of snow on them. i had to constantly jump up and clap my feet together to knock off the clumps. disappointing outing overall.
first thing i did in the morning was wax the feet with a candle.
day 2 was a remarkable change. a cold front blew in with very low humidity and basically changed the snow to powder conditions. i've never experienced anything like that before. what was wet, heavy snow was now like sugar. wind was upped to 25 with gusts to 35 and shifted to the west which gave me longer N/S runs. 1.8 rage should have been enough but was gelded by the wind shadow from the trees at the halfway point in the field and was in danger of dropping into the playscape equipment multiple times.
grabbed the 2.4 sting. that solved the shadow problem but caused a couple of it's own. edging upwind was not happening at all in the gusts and thin snow and i thought that i was going to end up like the pic while heading right towards a bench, then a swingset, then a pole for a basketball backboard.
the small handles on the sting were not long enough to let me get on the brakes very effectively. staked on the ground, the kite was all over in the air for the same reason.
did get a bunch of runs in, though, and some were actually in control.
pretty fun for the most part and got to learn more about the whole process.

Love the tenacity, way to go! Take some video next time. That slush is hell, will stick to just about any skis/snowboard. Pain when it cakes onto your bindings, then try to get your boot in again.
Conditions at Sacandaga/Sunapee/Winnipesaukee have been looking great, but unfortunately I'm sidelined for the time being. Hope you get a couple more chances this winter!
