Anyone know if it would be possible or worth a try to be seated on a sup board and kite? Has anyone tried this? Could you go upwind? Was it fun?

I've tried and it wasn't that much fun since so slow.

Now...kite foiling on the other hand is awesome! I would highly recommended trying foiling if you haven't already

It can be done standing up as this video shows. However, looks like you would need a normal kitesurf kite, bar, lines etc. Looks like it could be fun, but might be better just to learn kitesurfing.



I have done SUP kite with NPW's and some fixed bridle kites. I couldn't consistently stay up wind but adding a stick on center fin might help. It works quite well with a wind-wing.

It's all a lot easier with an inflatable wind-wing instead of a kite which can start you on the path to wingfoiling should that be of interest.

As for sit down, you steer by edging the board which is very difficult sitting down (meaning I couldn't do it.) A rudder of some sort would be needed.
