On land or kiteboard it is all rider preference. Experienced riders will make logical arguments for either style.
sometimes boddy shape has a real effect. The thicker you are in the middle, the easier it might be to ride up without leg straps.
The spreader hook sits lower on a seat than on a waist, but that preference is a matter of style and personal choice too.
I think if you are heading for a buggy, a stronger argument can be made for the seat harness. When sitting in the bug with your knees up, most people
get thicker in the middle and the seat back might keep the waist harness from sitting low too. Leg straps make it possible to loosen the waist for
comfort sitting and still not have the harness ride up. Just gotta find a harness with minimal bulk down below. Some Mystics are good for that.

ok, i just bidded 85 on a slightly used fusion, if it gose over my bid then ill ride without a harness for a wheile and c how it feels, a seat sounds
better even though in getting into landboarding, just more support, and do u NEED a harness or is it something just to make it slightly easyer, ive
flown with a hardness but nvr hooked it in when i was with my board i only hooked it a few times when i was just flying the kite

The only time you NEED a harness is with a de-power kite, where you need to move the de-power bar in or out against the fixed from lines in order to
power up or down.
You can argue that you really want one with a larger open cell fixed bridle foils like 7 meters and up because they are so much work to hold on to for
a long time.

You can use a harness on handles to alleviate the strain on you arms from the pulling of a quad line power kite. I feel that this is especially true
when on a board.

It is sooooo helpful when using handles. What you need to do in order to use handles on a harness is to add a strop line between the two handles, hook
in the strop and you're ready to go. The only drawback I can see with the use of a strop and harness is the feeling of less feedback since you don't
have to hold on to them so hard.
Here's the post I started on it:
