Bestkites.com Bad customer service!

After searching the internet I decided to order my 5 meter Haka from Bestkites.com. During my initial e-mails back and forth to them all was good. They seemed concerned about my interests in their products and responded quickly. Upon placing my order I thought it would be a good idea to get a wind meter. Since I found it other places on the net for $20 cheaper I asked if they would price match and the response was YES!! I then placed my order via the internet for the Haka and a wind meter. Since the order was placed over the computer at full asking price I asked if they could just include an Ozone T-shirt to cover the price difference for the wind meter. Again they said sure. I was later informed that the meter would not be in until the following week and did they want them to wait to ship them together or not. I opted for them to ship them separately. The kite arrived soon after with just the kite in the box. I was a little disappointed not to see a shirt in there. A week go by and I send out an email asking about my meter. After a 5 day wait they respond with it was sent out and they have a number to track it. 5 days later still no package. Again I place an e-mail to them with the same response. Of course I am getting upset at this point. Another week goes by and I place one more e-mail. Of course days go by before I get response and it was the same crap. Finally my package arrived a month later with just the wind meter, no shirt! After looking at the package is was post marked for the 20th and they said it was shipping on the 4th. Basically this is a case of we will do anything for our customer to get their money and then who cares. I had planned on purchasing another kite from them before they started ignoring me.

So I ended up paying full price for a product they said they would price match. They should not tell a customer one thing and do another. I will never buy anything from them ever again.

Oh, here is a copy of the e-mail I sent 5 days about the $20 and I still haven't received a response.

Hey Tony!

I finally received my wind meter the other day. It was post marked for
the 20th. I thought you sent it out much earlier than that. Anyway,
you mentioned that you would price match the wind meter. I thought a
fair compromise would be an XL Ozone t-shirt. Do you have any you
could send?

Thanks!
Greg

Awesome customer service!

Hello,
I am not sure what is Greg complaining about here. He sent me about 10/12 emails about the new Haka and some other Ozone products (that he did not comment!). Gave him a discount since he was in the military - is that bad customer service? Is not my fault that he received the Wind meter delayed but a USPS problem.
I have been in business for 6 years now and getting discounts to the military I have always done that, so....
Sending kites to Saudi Arabia is not the same thing of sending a kite to San Diego or New York.
About the tshirt, I did not have any XL's, that is the reason he did not get yet.
I also give out 10% discount to all AKA members like any good kite retailer.
I did the best I could and I still get these comments?
Greg, next time, just be a bit more patient, you are not the only customer, but you are an important customer as well. You will get your t-shirt.
Thanks,
Tony

WHY is this on the forum? i'd prefer to not see personal grievances broadcast to the public.

let us all make up our own minds about different companies and their services.

use the U2U or private emails to hash it out between yourselves......please.

Good idea!

Could not agree more. These type of issues should always be solved between customer/company.
Thanks,
Tony

Let me first say that forums like this are a great way to get things resolved if other things have not woked to your advantage. Also it shows people how a company will resolve issues with customer. Second I didn't realize he was even a member or I probably would have tried a U2U first.

Tony,

Please understand that I thought I was getting great customer service until you received my payment. After that your responses took 5 days and they were vague answers that never brought resolve. One more thing I should comment on is the APO address you are refering to is a State side address and should by no means cause an issue. That address is located in CA. Also the copy of the e-mail above was sent to you 5 days ago with no response. I placed this post and you responded within a 1 hour. This all could have been avoided by responding to my last e-mail telling me that that shirt was out of stock and that you would send it when it came in.

Unfortunatelly your email went to my junk mail folder since I got a new laptop w/Windows Live Mail. That is the explanation for the delay on answering your email. I guessed that did not even crossed your mind. You have been added to my contact list
Thanks,
Tony

I've actually had great service from Bestkites. I'm local, so that may make a difference, but I've bought a number of kites from Tony as well as other bits and pieces. I've always been given better deals than I've seen elsewhere on the net. I needed a wide axle for my buggy and his site offerred it for about $45 less than anywhere else. He said he had missed adding the price increase to that page but would order one and sell it to me at the advertized price. True to his word, I recieved it a few days later and was charged exactly what his site had showed. He emailed me the other day to say my large Ozone shirt just came in, so I'd imagine thercman will be recieving his soon too.
